Why would we buy a player to fill gaps in our squad who is then going to go to the ACON and create a gap in our squad?

its a fair question that begs an answer

The gap has been there since the start of the season, and it will still be there after the AFCON if we keep our hand in our pocket.

Would we have to sell a player in order to sign Bony?

Perhaps the club believe that we're not going to be able to sign any expensive player until after other deals have been concluded. Perhaps they believe Swansea will not sell him in the next couple of weeks until they've sussed out if they are likely to receive any better offers and that we're only likely to sign him towards the end of the window. In which case his absence at ACON wouldnt be that big a deal.

correct. should been addressed before the beast was released.

Hopefully the papers are on the wrong track with this. Our budget is still restricted, gambling most of it is not a good idea imo, on a player not much better than what we have, who will be off to Acon, and not guaranteed to fit in with our style of "total football". Add to that our injured players are getting nearer to fitness, in summer a replacement for Yaya and Lamps is looming , Pogba will not be cheap, we might need every penny. We also need a LB,
Save the cash, weather the storm and buy off the top shelf in summer

I see the Ivory Coast training camp is in Abu Dhabi this month.

I have been banging the drum for Bony for quite a few months and would be really excited to see what he could offer in a City shirt.

He's got all the tools and as a club, we could offer him the belief that takes him to the very top level.

Still believe this could be Dzeko's last season, along with Kolarov, despite signing recent renewals.

Perhaps City feel the need to advance certain transfer targets, although Bony and AFCON still doesn't make sense.

The perfect foil for Sergio, however.

Bony is not good enough for where we want to be, why waste 30m on him now when our real targets will be signed in the summer, lets not panic buy now.
