Will they fire Mancini?

I think Mancini is a good person but he is underachieving at the moment. The season promised so much at the beginning. Now it looks like it could be a trophyless campaign.

Mancini hasn't got the best out of many of his signings recently (Dzeko, Nasri etc). Think he has done a OK/good job overall since he came in. But i do think there are a few other managers who could do better. Not sure if Mancini is the man for the long-term. But whoever the manager is after this season, he must be there for the long-term.

Name the " few " managers.

Mourinho, Ancelotti...those are 2 not too old but better managers than Mancini IMO.

then i could add some more experienced like Hiddink, Wenger and Capello but i don't think they would be long-term.
Just stop

The pressure on Mancini will be multiplied by ten if he was to retain his job, following a failure this season.

The team would only have to have a couple of dodgy results at the start of the season and it would be Mark Hughes all over again.

The owners made the mistake once, they won't make it again, I suspect.

If he is to be sacked, it will be because they know they can get a significant upgrade.

Mancini gets too much credit at times, and too much criticism at others.

Sheikh Mansour is wholly responsible for where we are as a club and a team.

It is his money and he has every right to decide if enough is enough.

Who in your opinion represents a significant upgrade - is it a one candidate list ?

I believe it so.

However, there are a couple of names which are not in the public domain who the owners have previously looked at over time.

One was Wenger.

Another, Capello.

Neither, who I would be happy with.

I'll go as far as to state I think any change of manager in the future, would see someone of this ilk, a foreign manager with plenty of experience in England/Premier League.

Cabilista spake unto Cabalista and answer came there one, one very special one

I think based on CL or Europa Cup this season the verdict is in Mancini has not proven that he can manage to bring in the title or Cup.

At the minimum, based on his CV at la liga, and with the talented squad on our record table topping performance in the first half of the season and our opposition poor, Mancini is expected to manage City to the PL title.

If not questions will be asked why we under performed and how results have gone pear shaped in the latter half of this season?

Will it surprise us that he will be sacked?

Not that he's attainable, but you don't think the owners would consider someone like Guardiola?

I really can't think of anyone else, can you?

As I said earlier, I think there's zero chance of Mancini getting sacked, even if we finish a distant second behind the rags (which is unlikely). The only conceivable way I can see Mancini not staying beyond the summer is if he's not offered a new contract, and someone like Juve or even the Italian national team come calling.

In terms of managers out there - I'm pretty surprised Pep hasn't signed a new contract at Barca. For me the obvious candidates are him and Mourinho. Wenger is never going to happen. Klopp is unlikely because he's just signed a new contract at Dortmund. Maybe Jogi Loew.

I think the manner/timing of Mancini's exit will have a massive bearing on who his successor is.

I'll repeat myself in what i posted yesterday that i'm not sure Guardiola would be a step up from Mancini to be honest, he's not proven in the Prem and would be a huge gamble.

I think Tolm is right that when the time comes it'll be a proven Prem manager with a pedigree, Hiddink is busy counting his money and Mourinho is getting very busy at the moment.

The black and white of it is if Mourinho doesn't come Mancini stays............in my humble opinion.

I do think they would be 'glamoured' by his reflected glory with Barca.

However, I just don't see Pep leaving at this time.

I also feel him, Klopp, et al, all will feel the fall-out of Chelsea's experiment with Villa-Boas.

The next appointment won't/can't be a hopeful punt, it will be the keystone for ultimate glory and domination at home and abroad.

I have ultimate faith that if a decision is made to say thanks and goodbye, somehow, Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon can negotiate the exit of Mourinho.

I don't think I disagree with any of that.

My main worry is that without a CEO, who makes this decision? I know it is the owner ultimately but he is no expert at the end of the day.

Any more news on that former Barca bloke, what with Pep still yet to sign.

1+1= 23 no doubt.

If it's Mourinho or bust for our owners, then I'd be hugely disappointed. There's nothing remotely forward thinking about that appointment and it doesn't take into account the very real possibility that Mancini would leave of his own volition whilst Mourinho ends up staying at Real.
