Your ideal central-midfield signing for next summer ?

Absolutely agree jim - doesn't produce anything to deserve the hype imo
He's a decent player, it'd be silly to suggest otherwise. But, in my opinion, he's not as good as the media would have you believe. Ignoring for now the possibility that we might lose a couple of MFers in the summer, I wouldn't swap him for any of our bunch of mercenaries. As I said, though, circumstances may dictate differently in 6 months' time.

He’s pants mate. He’s the headless chicken people thought Sterling was with less than half the output and technical ability

Not ideal but has anyone seen the progress Alexis Garcia is making at Girona statistically affecting games up there with all the usual suspects!

Bellingham, macallister, le fee, Szoboszlai.

Any two from the four.

Mason Mount is a player of moments, hes not really that good outside of it and goes missing for large segments of the game without really contributing to the build up and ball progression even when he drops deeper.
I think essentially, similarly to the faded star.. Dele Alli, he is at his best as a second striker when he can only focus on what he is good at. And not at the top of the league.

Macallister, Bellingham, the 2 Barca boys.. would all be great choices with much more creatively and variety to their game.
Oihan Sancet or Alex Baena would be sneakers as well, but probably not ready. Tonali or Bennacer maybe but they may be too defensively oriented. Florian Wirtz is back as well..

And I so hoped Palace Eze would have exploded as a CM as well, but it hasn't happened yet. And maybe Matheus Nunes is still gettable. They have not performed to the level yet though.
And is Aouar still playing.. yeah I know

Ive excluded older players +25 here, and too defensively-minded.

Maybe just me but there is nothing about Mac Allister that's either impressive or says he's City/Pep quality. And I'm still not sure where all this midfield talk leaves Foden, we have to be very careful in how we manage him
I tend to agree with you re Mac Allister. A good player, but overrated. Foden is a better prospect in no.10/creative/CM role than him.

Bellingham and Mac Allister to repalce Gundogan and Bernie would be the best replacement possible for those 2 for those qualities we are missing.

Gotta say I agree with this. I've watched quite a lot of Brighton over the last couple of years as I enjoyed their way of playing and honestly Mac Allister never stood out as anything special in the slightest.

Not a bad player, exactly, and of course I'd cheer for him like anyone else if he came, but far from a dream signing and not even in the top 10 CMs I'd personally pick.

Fear he's a bit of a case of someone having a pretty good season and semi-decent WC which massively overinflates his value and general perceptions of his ability.

Desire Doue (sp) from Rennes has impressed me this season in what's been a solid season for them, mostly seen highlights but he looks a talent and looks like he could do a Bernardo/Foden style job in both the 8 roles and on the wings or playing off a main striker.
