YOUR starting back four.

lets just hope players dont start getting the hump when not playing .... but we now have a strong squad. think dunne is done for now .. thanks dunnie..

testimonial for him ????

I am utterly astonished why some people have Richards ahead of Nedum at RB... in my view Nedum is a better defensive RB than Richards or PabZab and should be first choice for that slot.

His performance against Barcelona in midweek was outstanding, and he had a cracking season at cb last year. If he is fit I can't see any reason not to have him alongside Toure at RB.

The thing is Hughes picks the back four and he rates Richards as a right back higher than Zab...

So its going to be

---------- -------------Given-----------------------

Richards-------- Toure------- Lescott------ Bridge

Everytime for league games home and away unless one is injuired or Toure is away @ Afircan Nations Cup thingy..

If he wants to alternate it he will bring in Ned and Zab for league cup games ..

The only time the team will change shape is in Midfield and Attack areas ..for different teams he may play a holding DM like De Jong or Komps with Barry and Ireland in CM and play 2 strikers as AM and 1 as an out and out CF

What a squad...

Not seen Nedum at right back as much as we have Richards, but decent point. Does Richards offer more going forward? Maybe so, but we also know Nedum IS capable going off West Ham at the start of last season. Not much in it between the two at right back - at centre half it is no contest.

If I remember correctly Ned used to play RB back when Richards thought he was a CB... then when it turned out Richards was gash at CB Ned stepped into CB and did an outstanding job. Seems to me therefore that Ned should get the nod over Richards and possibly Pab Zab too when we need a more defensively minded back 4.

Imho Zab is better than Ned going forwards but I think Ned has the edge over him defensively.

Richards Dunne Touré Bridge. The only defence who hasn't conceded a goal in the premiership yet.

Nedum didn't really deserve to be dropped though, just a shame you can't have more players on the pitch. :)

My starting back four home and away would be:

Richards, Toure, Lescott, Bridge.

I do feel for Neds as I think he should've been given a shot in place of Dunne at the start of this season, but I imagine Dunney will move before the transfer window closes and we will see Neds being the #1 back up for either Toure or Lescott...
