Interesting that in pre season games united beat Sampdoria 2-1 a few days ago, whilst Swansea beat them 4-0 today (without their best player).

LOL. Didnt know that.

Real are trophy hungry and they will destroy the rags.

Apparently giving 1% of his wages to charity this season. Classy move.

I have thought about this before. It should be a standard part of being in the footballing profession. The higher one earns the more they contribute to charitable causes. The money that is being thrown around in football is just too much. That £200k per week could go a long way in improving education, poverty, quality of life, etc. tbf I assume many footballers do contribute, so it should be the buying club that forks out not the players.

Why footballers ??
Tennis,Golf,F1,Cricket,Boxing.
It should be voluntary otherwise it simply becomes another tax.
The Toure Bros used to give 50% of their income to their Foundation.
Anyhowup, charity begins at home. Cut the Foreign Aid budget to India & China & invest in nurses, education & care for the British elderly

Of course this should be expanded to other sports, not just football. A lot of money moving around sports. Its very obvious what requires improvement around us.

Mata doesn't seem like the kind of guy to want publicity about how he gives to charity. His employers however...

I thought exactly the same thing, When has mata ever done anything and then made a huge deal about it?
Absolutely stinks of united PR.

It would be very smart of the Glazers to consider. They know the jig is up and the era of dominance is over. The possibility of a long-term run as also-rans is distinct.
And Rumspringa is only meant to be 2 years. Dunno how they've been getting away with it so long tbh. So many barns back home need maintaining.

I'm not sure they can afford to sell up / or it is financially wise to sell up..... if they sell how much profit will they make and how much debt do they have to pay off? Where as simply keeping the club, the debts are being looked after (or moved around to another debtor) and the profits creamed off by the family each season.

Like all sports team owners with an economic incentive they are in this more for the capital gain on the sale than the cash flow. How much equity did they put up to buy the club, and how much would they get if they sold and the new owners assumed/paid down the debt on the club? My point is that equity value is, in my opinion, only going down from here because the club's brand recognition is still sky high while the pitch performance -- what over the long run drives value -- has declined and in the face of, ahem, us (and others) may decline further. Buy low, sell high.
