City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

Yeh but look at the FB groups now? you can pick tickets up for £20 some even get given away for free. I suppose the Club have to make the figures now to keep in with the Financial Fair Play bollocks. I pay mine monthly over 10months, instead of having a couple of nights on the piss I have them instead.
Four of us used to sit in the block you are in, top seats and gutted when we had to relocate. We went ES Level 3, mate got vertigo, ES Level 1, row L, bobbins view, and ended up in CB Level 2 next to the Family stand, decent view but I really miss our old seats although I guess you are paying around £600 per season more than we used to (£820 last price we paid).

The empty seats have become more and more visible because season ticket and matchday tickets have gone up in price 9 season’s out of 10 season’s.

Yes we’re getting value for money on the pitch, but if people can’t afford match tickets, it doesn’t matter about value for money on the pitch.

The worry for me is when Pep leaves and the team begins to regress, how many new empty seats will appear then?

The stand out decision for me was when City price tiered the blocks, instead of the levels.

How City can justify charging fans different seat prices because they are 1 2, 3, etc rows apart in the same block is beyond me.

The gentrification of level 2 has also left numerous empty seats.

And even though the Family stand is a noble idea, it’s been nothing short of a diaster empty seats wise, when the NS always used be full before fans were shifted out of there.

All this re-pricing, moving fans about, and upheaval has been railroaded through in the name of closing the matchday revenue gap on the other big clubs.

I look at Barcelona with Messi & Co and the Camp Nou has hundreds, if not thousands of empty seats, due to the high cost of match tickets.

Is there a connection?

PS. Don‘t get me started on the 3% season ticket price rise last season. How much did we get from Amazon for All Or Nothing? Was it £10mill?(rumour)

Last 2 games have been pretty much full bar that usual row or 2 of seats in the corner of the Family Stand.
Tonight tier 2 of the FS is gonna be half empty if the website is anything to go by. Sad really, playing Lyon is akin to playing Everton or even Arsenal at home. Decent club/team, not some Maribor type crap

"When Pep leaves and the team regress, how many empty seats will be then". I don't see City fans including myself being that shallow as to not supporting the new manager, and not going to games, I don't know who we would get in but the exciting times would carry on.

First year of being in the stadium it was difficult to get a ticket, I remember there was a drop off under Pearce but people came back when Thaksin took over and started spending. Then the Sheikh took over the match day tickets vanished pretty quickly so they stung you with the priority charge for when the tickets went on sale. There was never rows of empty seats in the south stand then.

I dont think the club cares, Soriano seems to obsessed with selling premium packages in the tunnel club rather than alienating the people that have been watching City in some very lean times.
Here are some games from 1998 onwards...

First game in the third tier, attendance 32134

One of the first games at the CoMS, 2003

2004

Night game 2005, some empties but seemingly less than against Southampton or West Brom last season for example

Loads of empties in 2006-07 with Pearce, our average attendance was 39997, our worst at the CoMS

https://youtu.be/-zH5qJ767lk
Attendances back with a bang and although there are empties, they are nothing like you see now

https://youtu.be/2VC3jQNdwF4
2008-09, first goal is in first half injury time so ignore that... second half, full stadium, just look look at the North Stand compared to these days!

https://youtu.be/zXq4Mg2LVXc
Night cup game 2009, full stadium

https://youtu.be/Hmr_vX529mA
2010-11 full stadium

https://youtu.be/wV_MJQhXaUk
2011-12 the odd empty

https://youtu.be/iu7fFeiMAn4
2012-13 Full stadium

https://youtu.be/2p82JiG4EKM
2013-14 the odd empties

2015 empty seats are more noticeable from now on

The empty seats only seemed to be more prominent when the club started pushing the prices up.The more the club pushes up the cost of a single match ticket the more people who want to attend on a casual basis will be inclined to buy a season ticket and not use it for all 19 games. We have some of the cheapest season tickets in the league but the other side we are up there with the most expensive barring the London clubs.

I cant get to the games all the time now and quite frankly cannot afford it in todays climate, a match day now for all the smithy clan costs just under £100 for the tickets alone - thats not inclluding travel/food etc etc

What once was a religious outing every week has now turned into the few occassions when I can justify the outlay of £100 alone on the tickets

It is just a shame because every time I cant go and see the empty seats on the TV I just think that that could be myself and the kids sat there cheering on our club.

And yes I make them stay till the end - none of that leaving early bollocks

The fans of dipperpool and manure berate us with the attendance figures as it is the only stick to beat us with now - what they fail to comprehend is that they are topped up by thousands of travelling foreign fans week in week out

The club need a complete re think about ticket prices ,season ticket prices ,complimentary tickets ,ticket agencies ect
A complete overhaul is needed. They need to take this profit record in hand now and be fairer to us.

For SeasonCards most average out at £43/game. When the away fans pay £30. That's not right!

They need to sack off the ticket agencies and ONLY City fans with a Supporter Number should be able to buy tickets. We have enough of them to fill the stadium, easily! Many many times a season they will be trying to buy tickets and told they can't.

They need to re-think the whole corporate set-up, there are FAR too many for demand.

210 is premium - 93:20 or something. It's the same on the other side (220?). Should just reduce the size of these areas. I think we've completely over-estimated the demand for hospitality. Most of the executive boxes on the East Stand side were empty on Saturday.
I agree with you.

The club don't REALLY care about the atmosphere or bums on seats etc... it's all about money. if you take 10,000 seats. You'd rather sell 5,000 at £150 rather than 10,000 at £40 (if money was your goal). What people like ourselves should argue to the club is that the extra revenue generated isn't worth the damage to the clubs reputation (for having empty seats).

Still though, we can whinge about corperate all we want, there will still be swathes of empty normal seats tonight. Most of which are dirt cheap for UCL.

I've sat through the good, bad and indifferent before the superb we have now, so I am not going to give up once Pep leaves. Managers come, managers go, players come, players go, the one constant is the fans. (Even Sheikh Mansour paraphrased that in his letter to fans) :-)

I think a lot are missing the point here.a
A lot don't go and me included in the week as it's a nightmare to get to and from the ground in the week.
Manchesters roads simply cannot cope with traffic anymore.

Can all you fans who stayed away tonight continue staying away, please.

I stayed until the end of the game and got home in 15 minutes.

It normally takes 30 minutes after a PL match.

Thanks.

Agree home at 10.30 normally 11

The truth is, a lot of City fans just don’t do midweek cup games. I’ve been going for 25 years and a large section of our support has just never bothered with them. FA Cup replays and league cup games are always well below league attendance. Same thing impacts the CL & EL.

Make CL games compulsory with the season ticket like the other top teams. The club has no other choice. It’ll soon shock those that get a season ticket and barely go into giving it up.

Yep i agree, parked near the Townley Tavern - stayed to the end and was back in Chorlton in 15mins.
