Away tickets

Trouble is as I have already stated the ones on big points were probably at all them games too, so you would still be no nearer.
So, what you are after is a short cut, to catch up those who have been and are still going? who do want to jump over?

To give you an idea of how the points have been built up over the years and the 'Loyalty' supporters have shown. In 2004/5 season I got 100 yes 100 points for attending TEN away fixtures. YOU THIS SEASON could get more points by attending THREE away fixtures, and don't tell me you don't have enough points to get to three away fixtures.

As someone said there are only a limited amount of views on here but some open & honest ones.I would be interested to know the criteria if we got to the champions league final. This was part of my reason for keeping platinum & building my sons points. As we know there would be fans appearing from everywhere for Madrid taking tickets that don't qualify & maybe never even go to games normally. This forum would explode.I currently believe i would get the 2 tickets for me and my son through our current system but maybe not next season with any changes (who knows)? As some of the younger lads have said they will struggle & currently find any means possible which i say good luck, do what you need to. Maybe a season of being S..t again will get rid of the away ticket conversation (only kidding).

I don't do away's anymore but what was wrong with the old system with regular season ticket holder's getting first pick, then 2nd year season ticket holder's, then First year season ticket holder's then open sale if any were left?

So your gripe isn't just with Platinum, it's that a lot of people have been going to many games for many years and therefore the JCL's are restricted in their choice of current away games! Prestwich_Blue put forward a comment that the club wanted bums on seats and would give extra points for attending matches, this still wouldn't get people up the ladder as those with the most points will still attend as they/we have been doing for many many years!!
Don't know where you're coming from with that mate, I haven't got a gripe with anyone just stating facts.

You have misread what I was trying to say. I am not after anything, just stating facts.

It would be enlightening of the club to be transparent to each Supporter on where they sit within the loyalty points hierarchy so that they can make an informed decision as to whether to stay/go Platinum or not. Year on year you'd be able to see your progress too!

Loyalty points should be earned on attending aways. However, Loyalty points should be deducted for SC holders who cannot be arsed going to home games because of the game being on TV, shit weather, or anymore shit excuses. If you can't go, flog your ticket or even give it away like I do. Otherwise points deducted.

I find it interesting that our worst away vocal support is at grounds that are easy travelling distances from Manchester, including Huddersfield and Burnley. I am not sure why this is?
What was wrong with the atmosphere yesterday I thought it wasn't bad considering the team weren't on top form either.

I was walking around a Council Estate in Leeds on Friday night in a sweatshirt in the middle of a blizzard. Some of you will know Smiler whose been following Leeds home and away since the early 70s. He was having to miss Huddersfield game with having the flu bad but he wanted to make sure his ticket was used. I passed it on to another lifelong Blue who had just missed out on the points. This might outrage some points zealots

All credit to the minority of Blues that gave the Lads loads of support.!The fact that this was a minority highlights the problem.

Our Loyalty Points are a limited view on who has been "loyal".

They're literally the 2001 Onwards Points.

They've been going for 18 years so where does the loyalty of the many thousands of fans who went to many hundreds of games through the 1990s or both the 1980s and 90s (or further back) come in?

What about older fellas who could have been going since the 1950s and probably been to double the amount of games over the decades than someone with a high number of 2001 Onwards Points?

I don't think someone who has 20000 2001 Onwards Points is any more deserving of an away ticket than someone who went to every single game from 1965-2000 but started a family in his 40s then couldn't go as much from 2001 onwards.

And what about someone who's, say, 17 now. In exactly the same position as someone who started going at 17 in 2001 who could be on 20000 points now. The current 17 year old has no chance of getting tickets to some games and will never ever catch up to have enough to go to all games even though he's bang ready to now? Of course he can go to some games (Cardiff was a Saturday game that went down to low points).

None of these actually apply to me. I can get tickets to a lot of away games - although i shot myself in the foot by boycotting all away tickets that were over £50 when that started creeping in and fell behind in the 2001 Onwards Points scheme. But they are just things i think about from time-to-time for other people in those positions. Let's face it, we shouldn't all have an "i'm alright, Jack" attitude or snipe at people for not going to a mid-week away game when they might not even be able to get the afternoon off work, because one day we'll all be too old to go or even dead and we could have a generation behind us who are so used to not going to away games that we don't have a proper away following.

I'll tell you what as well, our atmosphere away from home was a damn site better before the 2001 Onwards Points came in! I think when people don't go to away games all the time, relish the experience of going and make more noise (Stoke away last season was an example of that, lots more younger lads and different faces than usual and it was one of our best atmospheres of the season). Food for thought...

As we were shit in 2001 and the money didn't arrive until 2008 I'd say taking 2001 as a string point is pretty fair.

I'd say that the vast majority of people on 20,000 points plus were also going before 2001, but unlike you (I'm guessing) they kept going.

The system works and reflects true loyalty over a lengthy period.

The only group I have some sympathy for are youngsters and a rolling 5 year period would help them.

The only gripe I have, is with the Gold/Platinum thing.

In my eyes, the fairest way to distribute points would be to just have the one scheme.
The Platinum scheme is just a moneymaking idea, that club know fans (esp with high points) will buy. Just so they don't get overtaken.

If it was up to me I would:
1 Ditch Platinum.
2 Dock 10 points for home SC non attenders.
3 Offer 50 points for home Euro & Cup games that look unlikely to sell out.
4 Offer 50 points for unpopular aways like Newcastle.

I presume that you intend existing points to be kept otherwise what would be the starting point for the first away game?

Those are mad numbers. Anyone still on it is a fool and literally pissing away £50 for a few extra Virtual points. This only benefits 5% of ST holders who go home, away and europe and battle to be first to get tickets. Yeah over time 380 points over 190 may make a difference as you jump a few hundred people each season, but its not worth £50. Maybe i just dont go to enough away games.

It suggests to me that the hardcore 2-3000 regular away attenders is actually a bigger group than many of us (myself included) would have predicted.

People tend not to piss away £50 for no good reason.

(I hate Platinum as much as the next fan - but in order to keep watching City home and away I'm forced to pay it)

There’s about 13500 still on Platinum according to the club, which surprised me as I thought it would be less. That means it brings in £650k a year, which is just over 1% of our matchday revenue and around 0.1% of our overall revenue.
That’s ridiculous, not that many going to away games. The only cup final tickets it would help with is, is the CL?

I know, and I did think that but it would still give more people a chance to get tickets.
So for a 3000 allocation, ie a big game:
  • 500 in a ballot
  • 250 for the under privileged 16-25 year olds
  • 450 to hospitality to send out
  • 150 for the players to give the wife
  • 600 for the Supporters Club to give to someone who buys travel with them
Leaving 1050, just over a third of the tickets available, to the people who regularly go, who everyone deems to be points whores. I’d also like to say that these independent City fans make up over 80% of our current home crowds and you want them to be allocated 35% of the tickets.

How about this for an off the wall suggestion.....
Why don't the club retrospectively give say an extra 100 points for each home Cup/Champions League match that supporters have attended over say the last 5 years (or since the takeover), ie rewarding actual loyalty and support of our team without the prior knowledge of gaining points. That should give a boost to those on lower points!
I’d welcome that and I’ve got a fair few points. I don’t miss a home game unless on holiday.

You can guarantee that the corporate allocation will be well over subscribed.

Why did a Leeds fan have the ticket in the first place?
