Leroy Sane - 2018/2019 performances

Yet again, I rate Sane and wish him success because he is a talented player and plays for City. He is up and coming world class player and has got a lot to prove; nonetheless, as it stands right now, Mahrez is more efficient and less wasteful. That’s my opinion and I have backed it with facts. As a matter of fact, we can agree to disagree and I do not have to share your opinion just for the sake of pleasing you !

Sane puts bums on seats he can go past a man and excites the crowd, I havnt seen Mahrez do this, he hasn’t got the pace or quickness of thought.

Sane is our player with the highest ceiling.

Seems to work hard and track back when playing also, a bit stroppy at times but it's pretty hard to see why he isn't getting game time currently based on what we get to see.

Need to give him a run with Sterling, our best wingers. Bernardo can play central.

I would like to see your FACTS/STATS indicating Mahrez is playing at a better level than Sane right now? To me Mahrez is very predictable, turns inside and plays the easy pass backyards or sideways in most instances and doesn't offer the same threat as Sane who runs at defenders, creates opportunities and puts the opposition defence under pressure.

He is one of the most productive Wingers per minute it terms of goals & assists.

He has done it consistently last season, and also did his job well whenever allowed to play by Pep this season.


I am not sure why Pep is not playing him, personal problems between the two or Pep changing the position of Sterling from RW to LW is the reason.

I agree, it can only be Sané’s fault. Clearly an attitude and/or application issue. But it’s not a new thing, Pep has been trying to get the penny to drop with him since day one. Yet he seems further away from what he wants than ever before. Very real chance he gets moved on for someone Pep trusts.

I doubt it's this serious. My reading is that the deep numbers suggest Sterling is far superior on the left. And thus Pep is unwilling to lose that advantage.

Which leaves Mahrez the superior option on the right when Bernado plays middle or is absent.

Personally, I think we are better when Sterling goes right and Sane comes in on the left, but competent minds can disagree.

And I'm okay with that. :)

He does not even come close to Mahrez. Sane could not even make it in a dreadfull german team for the world cup. As we all know, he is a prospect, he has not prved much yet ! Playing in a team full of world class players does not make him a world beater. As much as I like the pace and technicality of Sane, he gives the ball away more often than Mahrez, his first touch is most of the time shocking and he does not defend well. Had Sane played yesterday, we would have had a very reminiscent score of against Liverpool last season.
Treating a city player who has done his atmost to join city and has not spared himself in pursuit for improvement since he joined the team a clown is just disgraceful.

He can be a bit sloppy sometimes. Pep hates sloppy play. So that may be it. Just guessing though

I don't agree with the decision of not playing him last week. Spurs are not Liverpool, they don't press as intensely and even if they do, they don't have the raw pace up front to really hurt us. But I do agree that Sane making a bad pass last season in QFs vs Liverpool that led to a goal I think has remained in Pep's mind. I believe he most certainly didn't play in this game for this reason but he should have. Spurs simply cannot live with our wingers if we play our game. Missed opportunity and now we are under pressure Wednesday. It will be sad sad shame if we get knocked out by Spurs!

Lots of people wanted us to get Spurs. Don't know why. I didn't want any English teams. It's just tougher to play and beat the same team so many times.

I hope we overcome them in the Championship league. But I don't see us beating them 2ice in 4 days :(
