Away tickets

City had a separate window and it took us 3 minutes to collect our tickets that hadn't turned up.

There was a 15 minute pat down queue at the end of bridge 5 first. It will be different if it is 10% collecting rather than 1% failed post.

its obvious that the Corporates are getting too many tickets and they aren’t given a strict deadline to return these by!

The tickets should be reaching people with lower points than the cut off
Spot on although if they weren't able to return them what would happen to the tickets, either end up on a reseller site or just not used as what is £30 to some of these people

40 empty at least in Block 117 rows 16. 17 and 18. I thought it was a group that didn't make it on the day, if so they didn't arrive all day.

I picked up tickets from ticket office, no probs, a third of the way round the ground, pleasant (these days) through the crowds.

Bit of a separate issue to the away tickets I suppose but I started the Istanbul song quite a few times on Saturday and it barely caught on. It was sung more than Bluemoon only 10/11 years ago, looks like people able to get tickets to away games have changed that much that they do not know it.

The atmosphere was strange all round I thought - both in the home and away ends - and it felt like too many people were still on holiday and couldn't be arsed getting up for the match. I was on the back row of the upper tier and needed my binoculars I was that far away from the action, but I still tried getting plenty of songs going - including the Istanbul one - and most of the time they fell on deaf ears. No doubt some of that was to do with the the make-up of our support though not all of it. There were still plenty of old faces in attendance but that said, a lot of those old faces don't bother singing either. When the atmosphere did get going, it was decent. I left bang on the final whistle and I was making my way up to Hackney Wick, you could hear the City fans still inside the ground making their way out loud and clear.

Back on topic, if collect at destination had been in operation for this game I reckon it would've been a complete disaster. There were huge queues for security checks at some of the entrances to the area surrounding the stadium 20-30 minutes before kick off. We were lucky - we left the 'spoons in Stratford at 11.40-ish for the 20 or so minute walk through the shopping centre to the stadium and the entrance we landed on wasn't too bad, but there was another one to the left of us that had a horrendously long queue and there wasn't a chance in hell that a lot of the fans in that queue were going to see the kick-off. If you'd dropped on that one AND then had to go and collect your ticket, you'd have been fucked.

Queue on Bridge 5 was a joke. 25 minutes to get to the security checkpoint. Stewards weren't any help when we asked which way we needed to go with away tickets and the signs around Olympic Park were a joke too. One sign told us to go one way to Bridge 4 and then we got as far as Bridge 5 and the sign there told us to go the other way. Shite. Once we finally got through the checkpoint and to the turnstile, it was fine and we looked down to see Bridge 4 with no queue.

That’s the block we were in and they’re the empty seats I saw, i thought a lot more than 40, it was as if a large group of people had not turned up.

One week before the match is the deadline. Otherwise you are stuck with them

perhaps it is more that we try that (or similar) most years and never get to the final. You don't sing Wem-ber-ley at the third round, nor do you sing we are gonna win the league after one game

The security is a separate issue, I didn't check the time it took but it certainly wasn't 15 minutes but like I said that is separate and nothing to do with ticket collection.

This 10% figure you mention, where did you get that from? Do you know that is the amount they are going to check?

I think there are friends of our Abu Dhabi sponsors who gather for the London games. I was told about this by a guy who studied with some of the Abu Dhabi elite. I doubt they are subject to the one week rule mate.

We definitely have done before, and I imagine we will again.

I'm all for the Istanbul song. Glad its back.

*Also I've already booked so will be going regardless (unless Liverpool get there).

Imagine going from standing on a dangerously rammed Kippax to complaining about some lads squeezing 2 on a seat.
Silly kids bouncing about having a good time :(

The Man City away old boys club never ceases to amaze.

One day you will be one of the old brigade (& they aren’t all boys!!!) and need to sit down at a match. We try for the front row, get seated & 2 or 3 ‘youngsters’ push in, try to push you out, definitely block your view, so what they say if you dare to pull them!! Well let me see now......I’ve paid for a ticket to watch a game of football not to look at your backsides hanging out of your jeans thank you very much!!

The Manchester City away youth never cease to amaze!!!! ( well some of them anyway)

My dad decided he can’t stand up all game all season at home so he’s moved to the 2nd tier. Now I stand with my mate, both on one seat as his is down on the front row.. there’s no push for space and we don’t get in anyone’s way.
Away support is supposed to be noisy, full of atmosphere and intimidating at times, not comfortable.
There’s a lot of the old brigade who believe that it’s no longer their job to make noise because they’ve done it all back in the day.
