Bring the Noise

I agree. We either need a proper home end in the north stand or we need to move the away fans over slightly to give us all of the south stand.

You make a good point about the north stand. When they cheer or make a noise it’s actually quite loud. We need to do something to push the club to make this change though.

Petitions, fan groups... we have got to do something otherwise nothing will change

Sheffield United fans were the loudest away fans all season as well
Rather we stuck to the south stand we’ve sorta made it our end since moving to the etihad I know it isn’t looked at the same way as the old kippax but if so many people get involved with the singing section then we can easily have the best atmosphere in the premier league, might be hard cos a lot of our fans would rather complain than actually do somet seen this on the thread and also out and about.

Club won’t help much either the people that run city don’t give a fuck about local fans they’d rather have a stadium full of tourists who’ll raid the club shop so atmosphere isn’t very high up on their list, they need to realise that this is important and even a good selling point like when u see Liverpool peddling the anfield myth, that gets plenty of clueless tourists in, Dortmund would be a better example

Indeed.

You can hear the North Stand when they cheer or claim for something because they’re in isolation.

Having thought about it I think it’s the away fans who need to be moved and give the whole of the South Stand to City.

Shove the away fans down where the ambulance entrance is at the bottom and we can make that huge South Stand our own.

I don’t give a fuck what GMP’s input on that would be neither, they can fuck off, it’s our club and we can do what we want. What they think should be an insignificance but you just know they’d make an issue of it and City would just back down. Or City couldn’t be arsed to do it themselves in the first place.

But it’s time to sort this stadium out.

I have no doubt moving away fans and giving us the whole of the South Stand would make our stadium a wholly different animal altogether.

Exactly how it should be.

No set of away fans should be in a set-up that allows them to be the main vocal noise in a stadium and have pride of place on tele.

Wolves have it half right, it’s very hard to get anything going at their place (although it’s a great view of you’re near the back on the half way line).
Tbf they’re home support was good apart from near the front there were a bunch of ten 15 year olds giving out all game with their leader who looked about 25 thinking he was all that proper tinpot haha

All the noise comes from the third tier, from where I sit it doesn't matter how many sing in ss1 as all I can hear is the away fans in ss3. The sound just doesn't travel from the bottom and I can see you are clapping and singing. The sheff united fans were loud but the amount of recycled songs they have is a joke.

Let’s be honest, there’s only United who come up with original songs in the whole country. Liverpool have a few but tend to pinch the rest of theirs off Celtic. We’ve not been too bad (Bernardo/Voules Vous is a good example). But almost every other set of fans just recycle songs that United or Celtic come up with.

True, they just seemed to be much worse than most. Apart from greasy chip butty (which is class) it was like listening to the greatest hits. Similar to wolves, I'm not knocking them as they are 2 of the loudest sets of fans we've had at ours the last few years.

Why not just have both the south stand and the north stand as singing sections? We have more then enough fans to fill both as well.

I just think it’s important that we get an actual home end that’s not split by away fans. Two singing ends that bounce off each other and create noise and both sides of the ground.

Not sure on having two singing sections, would rather have it all of ss l1&2 so it’s like a massive wall of noise one of the biggest problems now are different songs getting started from different areas of the ground that won’t help imo we need one big block of singers

Good post:)

I get what your saying, but with ss1 and 2 split it not sure that would work. It would be better if they merged all the tiers together, but that’s not going to happen

I’ve seen in Italy the ultra groups hold sit down meetings to make new songs

Why is everyone pre-occupied with whether we sing songs or not ? If a more bothered with getting involved, shouting encouragement, slagging the ref or simply shouting Come on City the atmosphere would improve hugely. Too many sit there as though they are watching a reality TV show.

(and don't start me on about those on their phones)

To be fair most songs across Europe and Britain are recycled. There’s a few that piss me off in Europe, that every team in Germany, Austria, Denmark etc all seem to use.

Originality is needed. It’s not impossible to come up with some good songs, just need some imagination.

Wolves, South Bank.

1. Safe standing rail seating.
2. Low roof that amplifies the noise and chants.
3. Single tiered stand.
4. South Bank capacity 10,000(?) Singing fans.

Personally i would like away fans to have the smallest percentage of pitch side possible, but FA now insist that within safety boundaries you have to give away fans something like 20% pith side view. Some clubs get away with it Newcastle being one. Before we moves in to 115 the amount of behind goal pitch side away fans aloud them to take over, it was ridiculous. No way should we move them round and give them more. Wish we could do what barca / milan / Newcastle do and have them right out of the way hardly heard are seen.

It would be far better with full lower SS for singers, but then it would upset those fans that like to taunt away fans, so cant win. To me I sing for my team couldn't give a toss about away fans.

Wolves away ? Been there and I think a good set of away fans like Poznan or rangers would have it rocking, just has to be organised but none of the PL fans are, they prefer random songs.

I think week in week out we are all going to differ in how we see the atmosphere be it good or bad and how we see the away fans as it depends on if you sit in SS1 or SS3.

Problem with a dedicated "city" end is we aren't going to get it any different to what it is like, Police / security will not allow away fans to be moved, its is going to stay as it is for a long time.

The only way to improve is to make better use of what we have, there are loads of singers all over the stadium not behind the goal, likewise there are lots of none singers in 114 / 115 / 116 / 117. I have not seen as many day tripper fans on 115 concourse area for a while now ( sheff united game ), this can only be because SC holders opted not to go to the game and the fact that singers are not snapping up spare tickets in lower SS. If the singers grabbed all the tickets in those areas there would be very few tourists given the chance to go in there.

With the songs, I think we try to make up new songs every game, so nothing gets a good chance to swell or fans to know the words. We have a balance of to many songs not enough singers. By the time a new song gets going somebody either changes the words to their own version or week after another song has been invented. We are also still in the habit of not singing a song long enough, last couple of home games bernardo song has kept going for almost 10 mins, perfect ! The pep & arteta song was catching, we can still sing that but change it to "pep & his sweaters, he's the best looking Spaniard we know"

pep & his sweaters, he's the best looking Spaniard we know"

Estrella Damm is a lager beer, brewed in Barcelona, Spain. It has existed since 1876

“Pep & Estrella, are the best looking Spaniards we know"

Technically both aren’t Spanish, but I’m sure neither will mind about that. ;-)

Can be done seen it with PSG and lech poznan. No point in making a kop stand spurs did it and there atmosphere is still poor

That’s one example. When they do sing it’s pretty loud as well. Wolves, Dortmund, Sheffield United show how good it can be.

Having one single tier would make the world of difference. It would bring all of the singers together, no separation by away fans and we would have the advantage of noise travelling off the roof

What we have now is shite. A few blocks in the bottom tier ..... and then pretty much 3 separate tiers of fans.

Your honestly telling me you wouldn’t want this ?

yes that would be good. we only get that if we ever rebuild north stand

We don’t have to copy anfield like every other team building their new ground. End of the day fans make the atmosphere a lot needs to be done before building that massive fuck off kop, can’t ever seem to get one full bock of singers without it being diluted with tourists and miserable dickheads that only sing on the derby, 100% agree with moving the away fans. Also u cannot compare any English atmosphere to European ultras
