Casual staff at City - club confirm they will be paid

I was talking to a mate yesterday that has worked for the club on security for 4 years and he said he hasn't been paid a penny and doesn't know if he will get anything because he can't get in touch with anyone,
Are you saying he worked for the club for four years and hasn’t been paid?

It is he saying he worked for someone else (Showsec?) and hadn’t been paid for the two matches that have not yet been played which he would likely have worked?

Can he not get in touch with his employer? All a bit suspicious to me.

I think a club the size of City will have the systems in place to allow remote working and the decision to pay staff will be at management level and can be easily communicated through the media, website like other clubs have managed to achieve.

I think its not a realistic explanation why there has been such a delay in the clubs decision being communicated.
Dunno about that Frank. Accessing the clubs bank account etc could be a problem remotely regarding security etc. I'm no expert.

My wife has received a text this morning from City saying she will be paid for the Arsenal and Burnley games. No mention of Real Madrid although that (she says )falls into a different pay month. She will be getting an email later today with more detail. Apparently there will be a decision made next month about future games. Don’t know about staff not directly employed by MCFC as she is a City employee?

The fannying around by the PL does not help anyone - clubs, security and outside caterers and all their staffs.

I am also employed directly by the club and have not received any communication.

Just recieved this from the club

Dear all,

We recognise that this is, and will continue to be, an uncertain time for everyone in our community, especially our directly engaged match day casual workers who are unable to work at the club during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the announcement from football’s governing bodies suspending the professional game, we have been working to address a range of matters across the club with the welfare of our staff at the forefront of our minds.

Although we would have liked to provide an update to you sooner, we also felt that it was important to thoroughly explore this issue in detail.

As of today, we can confirm that directly engaged match day casual workers will be paid in full for the fixtures they were scheduled to work, Arsenal, Burnley or both. Alongside this, match day casual workers will also receive a payment, based on pro-rata earnings over the last three months, applied across this season’s remaining five home fixtures. The payment will be made to all directly engaged matchday casual workers who have worked for the club in the past three months.

Please note that you will receive two separate payments for the above, one in April to include the Arsenal and Burnley fixtures, and one in May to include Real Madrid, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Bournemouth and Norwich City.

From an outsider looking in it looks like City have met their responsibilities and followed what other clubs have promised, which is great news and hats off to them. Would you agree or is there something were missing?

Yes well done City and I’m glad for the staff who will receive the payments.
Well its nice to see some of us have been vindicated in our support for City getting this right.Did anyone seriously believe an outcome of this kind could be made in a few days ?

City have probably done more than others Clubs because we had more games to play.

No totally agree, think they were just a bit slow with the communication, I don't rely on the money but there will be some that do. A simple e-mail saying we are looking into it would of been helpful.

Glad it all got sorted mate. Could not agree more re:the communication. Its an uncertain time so things like this do not help and as you say some will be relying on the money.
