General transfer rumours

Ollie watkins for 33m? what are we doing wrong with our outgoing transfers?
24 year old, second top goal scorer in the Championship bought by a team that barely survived last season because they couldn't score the top of a table with a fork?

Hardly earth shattering figures. Sure we got £25m for Iheanacho years ago and he'd done sweet fuck all.

Brewster to Sheff Utd for 25m, the dippers really do an incredible job at convincing teams that you can't get any better players out there.

Probably the cash they need to go for Thiago which is annoying.

We flog our loans out abroad where no one has cash so then they drive hard deals.
If we loaned to english clubs who have cash to burn, you only need one to perform and instantly you have a big transfer fee.

Iheanacho to leicester for £25-30m should have proven that the best market to sell to is england. He was semi proven in england so we got good money, and yet still now the vast majority of our players go on loan to spain or holland

I don't think its always intentional. For some of the youngsters we see having a future we probably prefer Spain or Holland then be kicked all over the park in the Championship or League 1.

But it does seem that outside of Iheancho we just can't get prem clubs to take interest in our players. The dippers have sold Ibe, Solanke and likely Brewster for miles over what they are worth and it doesn't make sense.

I think there are execs out there that have egos that want to be seen to do business with them, irrespective of whether there is value to be had. Personal agendas play a part.

Brewster should be a loan option (and a good one to be fair to him). Anyone risking money on him is wasting cash. He wont play regularly for liverpool so if they want him to stay long term - loan. If they dont want him to stay long term - he has no real value. At least thats how it works for us.

100% right on the other 2. Solanke for £20m really gets me every time. 1 goal for liverpool and hes worth £20m?! Hes got a bloody england cap as well (just after signing for liverpool - shock!) so that did nicely to bump his value.

Not sure it is that simple. We buy these kids in with minimal experiance or none in terms of top level football. Why would a smaller PL club take a punt on a player they have no stake in. Why would they not find some other youngster they can buy outright with potential and look to max out any profit. Nacho was slightly different in that he had played a lot of games and scored goals before we let him go. They either want some assurance of a quality player or they want a stake in the uplift in value if they come good or both. Hence buy back deals can work well.

How the fuck have they pulled that off? He’s incredibly overrated

Buy backs are so rare in this country. It shifts all risk to the buying club. I think its good from a sellers perspective, but never really sure why anyone signs up to one unless it seriously discounts the fee you’re signing him for. Otherwise it reduces the upside potential but keeps the downside risk.

As to why a club should take a punt on a loan, thats exactly what they are for. Its pretty risk free from a buyers perspective. You hopefully scout the player well to think he can contribute and then if he does well, youve gained for that season without the outlay. If it doesn’t work well, stick them away somewhere or send them back.

We need to be loaning more to good championship or lower prem sides (like harrison has) where they get exposure to sides that have funds to invest in them if they perform. I know he wont score a worldie every week but if he performs in patches or throughout the season, £15-20m next summer easy.

The conveyer belt of talent is never ending in academies all over the country. It would be nice if some of ours started filling positions in other clubs around the leagues.

Not trying to improve the fortunes of a second division club in spain, just because we’re affiliated. Their problems should not be man citys problems. If couto and moreno both go there, huge waste for me.

Really puts into perspective how bad we are when it comes to selling. We celebrated receiving a £15m fee for Brahim Diaz...

Tbh seeing some of the fees that the rags and dippers get for their players puts our selling into sharp focus .

Not sure we would buy him back for £15m now, that was good money then and still above his value now. He might be at RM but he hasn't done much there and is on loan at AC Milan this year.

if spurs pull this off. would be a major coup. and a dent on Spanish Liga.

hes on 600k a week. Spurs max wage is 100k at max? so Madrid willing to pay for the rest whilst he plays for another club. dont get it. And somehow cannot see this happening unless there's a clause where spurs buy him after one year.

and la Liga without CR7, Bale and soon Messi.
