Assuming the idea is to buy time for a vaccine. At what point is an alternative strategy to continuous lockdowns is adopted if a successful vaccine is not forthcoming?

cant see an alternative strategy, have to maintain what we can economically whilst making sure there’s enough beds free in hospitals.

When I go shopping round here I'd say 90% of the people I see are wearing masks and adhering to distancing recommendations.

Near me too. Rarely see anyone without a mask. Odd ones.

BBC News just announced the government will impose tier 3 on GM unless Andy Burnham accepts it by midday tomorrow.

Seems he thought there was a deal on offer but the government have not come back on this since discussions earlier and now look like they have decided to issue an ultimatum instead via the BBC.

But then the same news just said that case rates in Manchester are now falling. Which they will be if they are looking at last week's data as it did fall daily for a while when they were telling us it was going up.

But not today. They are going up when we are told they are going down.

trouble is Kaz businesses are not getting supported like they were and some are not getting supported at all.

I saw an article on line that claimed MP's (after their recent pay rise) were to be granted an extra £10,000 to assist with the additional cost of working from home. My daughter is allowed to claim up to £6.00 per week.

My experience in supermarkets is that practically everyone wears a mask but practically nobody stays 2m away from each other.

Well, Joybringer Vallence has stated that there won’t be one until next year, it won’t get rid of Covid which will always be with us, and the best we can hope for is turning it into flu. It’s looking more and more like lockdown really isn’t a proper plan.

There are scientists who hold a view that there is an alternative. Shield vulnerable and the rest carry on (not as normal but distancing rather than locking down).
There does seem to be some censorship going on.
Clearly difficult to know what is best but the alternative argument isn’t being heard.
