Burnham would manage to get fewer votes than Corbyn. In fact, given the choice, even I'd vote for Corbyn ahead of Burnham.
Where are you looking? Is starmer on holiday?
Not heard a peep from him for a while
Another endorsement for Burnham.Burnham would manage to get fewer votes than Corbyn. In fact, given the choice, even I'd vote for Corbyn ahead of Burnham.
It is rare a Labour leader is ousted, in fact I cant think of one, it is late on Friday night mind, Starmer would have to resign or somebody would have to mount a leadership challenge and then put it to the members. Even then with the Left purged Starmer may well be safe. I don't see where a leadership challenge would come from ATM so he would have to resign and I can't see that either. The party is stuck with him i reckon until after the local elections at least. A disastrous showing in them and he will have to resign, a decent result and he carries on. The Tories might well consider a decent night for Labour in the local elections as a bonus, as it keeps Keith in place and that keeps the party split.I think Starmer is going to be ousted far sooner than any of us realised...
It's tragic. Labour has lost touch with its working class base. The Tories are far more ruthless when it comes to replacing leaders, they have a mechanism in the 1922 committee.
They’re a middle class movement that doesn’t realise they are, that’s the issue they have. It's tragic. Labour has lost touch with its working class base. This definition of working class was actually posted elsewhere on this forum:
'It depends what you mean by working class. If you mean people that work'
This whole new level of stupid comfortably includes Boris and possibly the Queen as working class.
Most of the working class who are in work voted Remain. Most people in work in every class voted Remain. It's tragic. Labour has lost touch with its working class base. This definition of working class was actually posted elsewhere on this forum:

Not sure about that, every person i know who is on or near the minimum wage vote out, immigration rightly or wrongly was the main topic, and wages and jobs the reason, even everyone i know who is unemployed voted outMost of the working class who are in work voted Remain. Most people in work in every class voted Remain.
If you add arbitrary sub categories you can prove anything you like. This sort of delusion that gets us to a definition of 'working class' that includes Boris and Rees-mogg, and sees century old labour safe seats turn blue. Most of the working class who are in work voted Remain. True, but I think what we understood as working class doesn’t really exist anymore, so it can be a bit misleading. Think there was some sort of national study a few years ago that identified 7(?) different classes. Clearly didn’t catch on tho.If you add arbitrary sub categories you can prove anything you like. 100% agree. The clear cut class distinction disappeared along with the move from manufacturing/heavy industry to services. My own perception (possibly bollocks) is the concept of middle class has vastly increased in both directions along with an unemployed underclass that we seem to have decided are cheaper to keep on benefits than in work :-(True, but I think what we understood as working class doesn’t really exist anymore, so it can be a bit misleading. I'm going off research of thousands of voters, not the few people bluemooners meet. Not sure about that, every person i know who is on or near the minimum wage vote out, immigration rightly or wrongly was the main topic, and wages and jobs the reason, even everyone i know who is unemployed voted out
This trump type denial or reframing of election results that don't fit our preconceived ideas of who votes for what blind us to reality sometimes. This blindness is preyed upon by opportunists like Boris who saw an opportunity to grab power and a huge majority while people were essentially distracted by trivia. Not a dig at you Vic, just a general comnent on the demise of losers consent in democracies.I'm going off research of thousands of voters, not the few people bluemooners meet.
You’re right, the country is right wing, especially England. But all the centrist dads told us all Labour had to do was ditch Corbyn and they'd be 10 points ahead? The country has gone right. The Red Wall has gone right. The party needs a complete transformation and Starmer isn't the man to leade it.
