When you allow garden gatherings and pub gardens to open, it’s one massive booze fest - indoor mixing is inevitable- next few weeks is a massive test on the vaccine outcome
Yes, that’s my thinking. It’s great that we’ve vaccinated the most vulnerable, but unfortunately it’s not going to be them doing most of the mixing.

I thinks it’s inevitable that a lot more people will catch the virus over the next few weeks, but hopefully it will those that can cope with it and fight it off easily. As you say, it’s a big, big test.

This moderna vaccine coming in April will be a great boost..jab away

Well today I can drive 152 miles to Cardiff quite legitimately but I can’t drive 11 miles to see family in England....

If I was in England I could, at 57 years old, be looking forward to my second Covid jab yet I’ve not even had my first one here in #StalagCwmry

if I was in England I could log onto a government website and book a vaccination because I could class myself as a carer for SWMBO who has Lymphoma.. instead, here in Wales, I have to take my chances every time I leave the house that I won’t pick up the virus and take it back to the house...

when anybody tells me that @fmwales aka Mark Drakeford is doing a great job I reply “fuck off bollocks he’s a Cnut”

Yorkshire does stand out. Even before schools returned cases across the East Midlands into South Yorkshire were edging up, against the trend elsewhere.

Whereas the South saw cases rise and fall rapidly, here in Sheffield we seem to have been seeing a consistent 100 cases a day since the start of the year (120 per 100,000). No significant growth, no decline. Six deaths in the last week isn't much above average, either.

Perhaps it's as simple as the more virulent variant finally reaching Yorkshire, as I can honestly say that people here seem to take Covid precautions as seriously as anywhere I've been in the last year.
Yorkshire had a very low level of the Kent variant in the last few months of 2020 when it was growing in the North West and created the GM and Merseyside spikes in October/November/December and th ones down south ariund December/January.

It was likely to get hold in Yorkshire at some point. Doing so within lockdown not before it will have moderated the level it could have got to I suspect.

I imagine someone is doing research into the spread of this variant to prepare for the inevitable arrival of others so we may learn more in due course.

It says delaying/postponing in the article, not refusing.
Give over. They aren't signing anything till supplies are guaranteed. There will be no best efforts clause either.
They have nothing to worry about of course because at they're an American company.

I’m only pointing out that the article you link does not state what you claim it states.

Novavax refusing to sign a contract with the EU due to possible supply problems. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-eu-novavax-exclusi-idUSKBN2BH2GY
You reap what you sow ...
I think it was the CEO of Novavax I heard interviewed on 5 Live and a big part of them working with the U.K. was trust from dealing with Kate Bingham before, as well as protection indemnity. Maybe the EU buyers don’t have that mutual trust with the vaccine suppliers? That is just a guess btw.

Wales vaccination update:

1, 387, 583 first doses given - 22, 228 today - was 23, 735 yesterday & 26, 939 last week

412, 663 second doses given - 11, 920 today - was 11, 080 yesterday & 9429 last week

I know plenty of fitter people than me who had it worse than me. Also heard of one who died as well. Anyone who says they trust their body to deal with it hasn’t got a fucking clue what they’re talking about.
I know lots of people that have had the flu worse myself included, some also died, but lets get it right, the Nightingale hospitals came and went, staffing was a major issue but not insurmountable, the main problem was they were set up for COVID only so were not usable, right thought this pandemic the Government has lied with its `Stop and Prevent ` message, it could do neither, the figures given out Death aside are worthless blabber, the four people i know who have died of COVID, one was a war veteran who had the Flu jab and never regained his health the other three had cancer they had operations/therapy cancelled or put back as they were not deemed fit enough, anyone who takes this drug should need it, the others are too stupid to understand their own history.
