This can’t be good for the players. What the fuck must they be thinking tonight? Doubt they’d be kept in the loop on these high level things. They’d know no more than us.

I doubt this will work. Imagine the PL genuinely expelling their cash cows. There will be a lot of posturing but the league will cave in eventually once the idea of actually losing the income from the big six becomes realistic.

Banning players from the Euros and the World Cup though... that could be an interesting dilemma.

Thats what it look like to me too. I wonder if we’ll also see owners locking out players if they don’t make enough money and want to drive salaries down.
 
I bet they still go ahead with the announcement. They will try and argue the leagues and national competitions would be damaged by not having the top teams/players in it. Then it would be a case of who blinks first. Could get nasty.

After reviewing this quickly, there's no chance it will go through - especially considering it doesn't have UEFA or FIFA backing.

Players aren't going to give up representing their countries. No chance.

A wage cap works in US sport because they all get their “transfers” from the same place - the US Colleges.

The story is not that City haven't been offered a place, its not that City won't sign up eventually, its that they haven't done it yet and everyone else has.

If this were ever going to go ahead, City would 100% become a founding member, anyone who thinks otherwise is incredibly naive. This is right up Soriano's alley, the only problems they will have are the "financial responsibility board" etc.

City should distance themselves from this, the main culprits in setting this up is the yank owners who don’t invest also with this Covid ban on fans are they really bothered if there are no fans in the stadium
