Never too late tolmie,we should see what PSG and Bayern have done either turned it down or weren’t invited which I find hard to believe..It's too late. A bit like Liverpool backtracking after a certain club leaked they were furloughing staff after revealing record turnover...
I have noticed that whilst some media outlets are saying '6', others are quoting '5'. I'm just living in naive hope that City are still busy wording their refusal before announcing it and it'll be Scum, Other Scum, Spuds, Arse and Chavskis who take the flak. :/It's too late. Hold fire and stop flapping lads.
I still think this is a tactic to stop the new champs league format being announced tomorrow.
I am truly disgusted then. I love City but if we are involved in this, they can get fucked. Let’s see how much these clubs enjoy going from challenging for titles to finishing 10th in a Super League every season.Looks like it's completely closed off. A separate, non-UEFA, non-FIFA endorsed league of 15 permanent members and 5 acceptees. Players would be banned from UEFA and FIFA competitions.
And yet the dirty arabs have been ruining the game , the media are all in bed with the americans as they own the istry clubsThe americanisation of football is about to be complete. Just call it the World series an be done with it.
No suprise that the 3 American owners are driving this.
Just wait until they start moving "franchises" next.
Its a closed shop for all but 32 teams, no chance of relegation but I for one love the way football has had teams like Bournemouth and Wimbledon rise from absolute obscurity to the top table. It's fine then if you support one of the big six and all the others can fuck off yeah?I can’t resist commenting that I am no expert but I understand the NFL is actually a very fair league, competitively.
Edit - for those in the league. So it’s not a kick in the teeth for every footy fan, just those who support the teams aspiring to get there.
Why is it whenever anything shite happens the Americans have their fucking grubby little hands all over it.
Yeah I see that, but that was driven by the cartel clubs behind the scenes at uefa ..To be fair though (and it's only seeing it in black and white in your post that it has struck me), even if we weren't aligned on the breakaway on what planet are we going to publicly support UEFA given how many times our reputation has been dragged through the mud?
All that makes total sense. The wage floor/cap thing isn't workable in "open" leagues like the football pyramid is now, but absolutely is in a closed league, assuming the players' union(s) aren't strong enough. All I'm saying is, if enough of the richest clubs get together - which is what this league would entail - and agree among themselves to not pay more than X% of their income on wages, that will inevitably have a limiting effect on wages overall. Especially for as long as that group of clubs are rich enough in global terms to dominate the market. The need for a wage floor doesn't come into it. And if they feel that China or wherever is muscling in, the European clubs can up the limit to say 60%, or assuming they still dominate world football in terms of fan interest, can hold out for a bigger TV deal.
I wonder ..Is this driven by the Yanks?
I’m not arsed about UEFA, I actively dislike them, but I don’t want City to fuck over the long standing traditions of English football. So City need to get their heads around this properly and do the right thing for English football.City are in a tricky situation here. Screwed by uefa and now potentially screwed by the super league twats.
It would be huge news if city came out and supported uefa considering they tried to destroy the club.
Fuck uefa or save them?
UEFA don’t put our a statement like that over a bit of jostlingEveryone is getting their panties in a wad. This is just a jostling for position before the announcement tomorrow of the ‘new’ CL format
My comparison to the US wage cap might not have been the best analogy. All I mean is that it's to the club owners' benefit if they can agree some kind of spending limit between them, and making it a percentage rather than an absolute figure allows the extremely rich to maintain their advantage against the merely rich. But I think we agree here. All that makes total sense. The wage floor/cap thing isn't workable in "open" leagues like the football pyramid is now, but absolutely is in a closed league, assuming the players' union(s) aren't strong enough.
