We’re at the ‘just found out your wife’s been sex-texting another man’ stage. It can only go one of two ways.
COME ON CITY I still love you, there’s still a chance we can put this behind us and carry on together. Xxx

The other three are clearly PSG, Bayern and Dortmund and I fully expect all three will eventually sign up once the dust settles.
Considering ECA just replaced Agnelli with Rummenigge I think, would be extremely out of the blue. Any chance you think the club might back off?

Bigger plans than this have failed so just because someone planned something big does not mean it will succeed

Yes but the rules and laws must be very clear and laid out for anyone to read. It it's perfectly legal to withdraw from the champions league and set up a separate competition people can hate it but legally not stop it. They'd be nuts to just do it on a whim. They'd go more slowly, ask for talks, state their demands/intentions.

Also the same as rugby where the Heineken Cup was owned by the national associations and the clubs realised they could set up their own tournament without the RFU, FFR, WRU etc. Skimming a massive chunk off the top for doing nothing.

They founded the Champions Cup, changed the qualifying so it was much harder for some weaker sides and despite everyone predicting the end of rugby as we know it, barely anything has changed. Heineken are still major sponsors even.
And Ally Pally is Bouncing every year :-) (bar the covid years)

It will never get that far.

The Premier league will have a meeting with Sky and BT for the next TV rights deal that starts in 2021 and they will say "We are replacing City, United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool with Norwich, Watford, Swansea, Brentford, Barnsley and Bournemouth, how many billions can we get per year?"

And sky will say, that sounds like the championship, in fact about 3/4s of the "new Premier league" have been in the championship under the current rights deal. and we pay £120m per year for the championship so it will be in that ball park."

And then the clubs will say, "gee that's a lot less than £3Bn a year isn't it? I'll go bankrupt if that happens"

And then they'll vote to keep the big 6.
That is a definite.

We know from leaked letters, Rummenigge was instructing Bayerns legal department to work out how they could join a super league as early as 2015. He was a major driver in the formation of this.

When thar came out in 2018, there was a huge backlash which is why the German clubs won't commit now.

Am I bad for thinking UEFA might rescind all the European trophies that the rags and dippers have previously won lol
They might have taken the jerseys off Armstrong, but everyone who watched it still think he won them.
It says a lot that they’ve stopped us being able to see who has voted Yes.
Bastards.

I've changed to Yes if that helps anyone. Just like to be contrary, but what's the fucking point if no one knows how I've voted!

I think we should endeavour to get to 100 votes by tomorrow. I thought that part about refs being miked up and a new var system might change a few votes....

Fair enough. Apologies mate. You’re correct, I’m devastated, emotional, and seethingly angry tonight and I AM lashing out. I’m gonna knock posting on the head for a bit until I’m thinking a bit more rationally.
Hey, no worries mate. It’s our club - one we’ve supported for decades - and we all get a bit excited at times :)

LOL

Has there ever been a more universally derided idea as this?

Usually even the most odious of ideas has at least some defenders and apologists, it seems these owners are pretty much completely isolated. No way this comes off if everyone keeps the pressure on.
I would imagine the owners are rocking right now and the phones are busy.

Spot on!
The premier league cannot afford to run without “the big 6” and both parties know it.
