Cristiano Ronaldo

As long as he signs for the right team. This could be epic! It could also be the biggest damp squib of all time.
So could Harold Kane, so could Haaland.

NO transfer is a guaranteed success, risk assessment is key.

A 12 month contract for Ronaldo on reduced terms with big bonuses for success is worth the said risk and for me is far superior than 150m for Harold , who at 28 already looks worn out.

In a moment all that you have ever known will be changed forever. Salford will be gone, wiped from the map for ever.

Everyone of us is piloting that plane. We wheel over the Etihad, and then we rumble low over over Claremont Road and Kippax Street and we stay low. Let them know we are coming. And then we rise high. She's away. We soar high flying on elation but not too high. Follow thr Ship Canal for she leads to Mordor! Too long that land has stained this Earth. A day to end all days with nothing but blue sky remaining.

We can but dream!
Marvin, I though you were a passivist?

I must say I am shocked and disappointed in your thirst for bloody revenge.

Speak for yourself you have no idea who I cheer for and who I don’t, I did smile at the apart from the rapey bit he is like the majority of us.

I just don’t fall into the support any **** that pulls a blue shirt on, I’m happy with that stance. I couldn’t stand Barton for instance when others would happily cheer the fucker.

I do wonder what it takes for someone to have an outlook that winning a football game is the most important thing and overrides any morality.

Also wages are speculation? My view that they will be really high isn’t much of a guess.

I like we have built a team without huge egos and our legends are the likes of Kompany Silva and Agüero. This self loving dickhead isn’t one I want to get behind. The love in is quite sickening imho.

Morality? What is so immoral about being ok with Ronaldo coming to City? I genuinely don't get it, and am asking with an open mind. @mattyb too. What is this big principle that anyone who doesn't have a problem with it is missing? It isn't a challenge type question, just interested in the reasons behind these claims.

I find the guy annoying, never liked him as a character and not just because of his time over there. I didn't particularly think I want him here, or even bother engaging with this thread until the links became meaningful. But to say finding the idea acceptable is immmoral, shameful, letting a part of the soul of the club die, against what we stand for and other such brazen statements, that I just honestly can't get my head around. Sorry guys, but if you are goung to make big shouts like that, at least try give a bit of insight into your thinking/feelings.

Personally, I'd go as far as saying buying Kane would have gone more against sound principles and club ethos. I'd have supported the club's decision, but 150m+, on a 28 year old with great PL numbers, is far more perverse and unimaginative, and reinforcing of the image we have been saddled with, than a stop gap 20m for a couple years of one of the world's best players, until there are other options in the market or within the academy.

This fucker ever sleep? Lol
Where are the ITKs now by the way? They didn't see this coming did they? Let's just hope it works out the way we want because it could easily carry a sting in the tail.

I am slightly reassured that if you wanted Old Trafford you'd simply call them. There is no need to play this game.

This one is a metaphorical bomb. They will look upwards, they will see the bomb ball, and everything they have ever known will be gone forever but we will be merciful. They will get to see many more days only they will be Blue Mondays, and it will last forever. This is the New Order.

I don't think it will happen either because Man Utd will move. But if Pep didn't want him why are we in for him. I think we are wary of Utd so unlikely to happen
If Ronaldo wants to move it won't be about sentiment, it'll be about winning another CL and that rules out United, he may as well stay at Juve as join the rags, they're simply not good enough.

I dislike him just as much as any Blue but Ronaldo on a 1-2 year deal would be incredible.

He can score penalties and is an aerial threat for when we randomly start spamming crosses. 81 goals and 17 assists in 98 Serie A games. Worse league than the PL for sure but he isn't washed yet. Played well at Euros.

If the fee and wages are sensible then this makes sense as a stop gap option. He's marketable so our portfolio would improve all around the world and it would piss off the rags so much!

I said it yesterday, the BM ITKs are all in receipt of P45s. You’re not allowed to criticize them or you get called a RAG, non seasoned or from being OOT.

FWIW I will be buzzing if he signs and not gutted if he doesn’t. One thing I guarantee is if he does we will be breaking down these sit back teams far quicker than normal.

I'm happy with Jesus, Torres or Delap as our number 9 options or even the false 9 system. If it fails, get a proper striker next season.

This is from former Juventus chairman yesterday.
"He's a great player, but I have to be honest – the sooner he leaves, the better for him and for Juventus.

"I hope that Massimiliano Allegri knows how to continue using him like he did against Udinese. That is, with intelligence and when the game is in progress.

"Ronaldo hampers Juventus' attack. Without him, they can do excellent things in collective terms."
Respect your opinion here and I see your points but Jesus is dead as a striker. Tite saw that ages ago and moved him to the right. Gabriel confirmed himself he’s a winger, so he’s done as a 9 long term. I don’t think that’s fair to him to keep pressuring him to play there for another season. Look how brilliant he played on the right.

Torres goes completely missing as a 9 in total football terms and Pep doesn’t trust youth.

We’ve got one of the top 5 players ever begging to come here and score goals as a stop gap. I love Pep and I want to see what he can do with Ronaldo.

Is that true? Saw it was all doom and gloom never checked the interview myself. Hope we can get him to stay for longer fear we will have a rocky few years when he goes. As for Ronaldo he is a knob but if the deal is doable I would go for it he knows where the net is and knows the league he offers us an aerial threat which will allow us to mix up our game, if pep wants him hope we get it done we need someone and I think he is the lowest risk option.

If you didn't see the interview why would you just accept the takeaway stated that 'he confirmed he was leaving'?

Edit. checked back and I see it wasn't you that said it, but are responding to the response, so I apologise. But I'll leave the question there as a general one.

Tell me one instance when it he has caused issues on the pitch?

I detest his personality, but as a player , his attitude, ability and achievement's are magnificent.
It’s not about issues caused

I think he his a fantastic footballer

But it’s his persona, his arrogance

Yes people can say it’s a winning mentality but no one will convince me to like the man

for one or another reason,I think he is not coming....Now it's up to Pep to find the way to win some silver this season, even if it's FA or League cup......

What is immoral about scoring goals? You are confused. At least you confuse me. I follow football. It's played between 22 players and watched by fans. Are you going to tell me that some of these players are evil, and that there is heaven and hell? The only heaven and hell, is Manchester City and Manchester United, and if you trample their shirt into the ground, and wear ours that's good enough for me. It's a path that's been trodden before.

As if you know the man. It's the arrogance of a goalscorer who played for a team you hated. What do you think Man Utd fans will think of Ronaldo if he plays for City? Not much I expect. They have reason to hate. Not you.

We are making a big assumption here of course!
