There is no point saying "what is the evidence" to points like that. Those on stage will just laugh and say use your eyes, and the fans of the other 19 clubs will crease themselves up, conditioned as they are to believe them. So I don't blame SteveMcI for staying out of it.

The only response is with facts: our commercial revenue is only the fifth highest, our broadcast income is the highest because we are the most successful in the most popular league. and our ratio of sponsorship to broadcast income suggests that our sponsorship is understated not overstated compared to our success.

I know this is unnecessary on this forum but can I just point out that Liverpool have been in a position to win the quadruple at least 29 times before?

You’re in position to win it every time you start the season in the CL. They’ve just failed every single previous attempt.
 
The main problem with someone like Steve challenging these kinds of views is that people will dismiss because he is a weaponised City fan with no proffesional background in football. So his 'opinion' is going to be diminished like many other City experts like @Prestwich_Blue and @projectriver.

The second and biggest problem is that everyone knows City are cooking the books and are so adept at cheating that lack of evidence demonstrates our adeptness at cheating. Everyone knows the 20,000 empty seats at Etihad are paid for by Sheik Mansour himself. Nev etc if asked to produce proof will just say everyone knows it - how else could City be more succesful than united etc

He'll no doubt claim that he won't take advantage of any freebies on offer or eat any corporate food as a protest against human rights abuses in Qatar and then be photographed trying to wedge a monster falafel in his fat gob.

You're right.

Given that Steve is going to be asked these types of questions, some professional media training and a bit of info wrapped up in five or six killer soundbites might help.

Again, no criticism, Steve is very good, the rag sitting next to him, Adam McKola, looked both angry and miserable throughout, which was nice.

Wow, the commentators on 5live could not sound more pissed off at having to report either of our goals (to date), and the pre-match bollox for the dippers game on talksport could not have been more fawning. They all need to take a listen to themselves.
