Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

I feel completely dejected and I'd be amazed if this didn't impact us emotionally over the next four games. These things don't happen in a vacuum.

The ref was no more or less bent than every other UCL ref, casemiro should have been booked early but he probably wouldn't have horse collared Foden if he was on yellow etc..

One of my friends is a Derby supporter and you know you've been through something horrendous when they feel sorry for you.

I think this doesn't quite feel worse than Porto, which took me 4 days to get over - time will tell.

Whilst I'd always put winning the Premier League top, the pain from our last 5 Champions League exits means I now desperately want to win it. I think we have a Holy Grail to chase!

Allegedly he needs an operation.

But has been putting it off because of the amount of football for Club and country.

This winter World Cup, i would have thought he might get Surgery right at the end of this season.

He has looked injured, so no idea why he is getting abuse for going missing.

Literally we create fuck all when he and Mahrez are not playing.
To play in pain must be hard to do ,not just now but for later life to .
I have seen a few expro's who played for city & they are fucked .
Him & Walker should be applauded .

Ask him about 1989...........cunts

Also It's going to be hard to pick 2 or 3 and say thank you here's the door ? sterling jesus must feel they are done with pep and city with new strikers coming in the summer ?
Jesus stats are ok imo.
Played 38
Goals 13
Assists 11
Min per goal 179

His mins per goal stat is only bettered by Mahrez 115 mins
and interestingly Palmer who has made 11 starts and scored 3 with 1 assist. A goal every 138 mins.
I can understand why some people would have liked to see Palmer get a run out last night.

It feels like I'd back us to be the best team in the world and beat anyone comfortably when at full strength but as soon as a slight inconvenience goes against us like Walker going off or conceding we get rattled so easily.

Seems like we always struggle when going behind/conceding nowadays while in 2017 Sterling would score a last minute winner every other week. Maybe it's the absence of a striker/this slower system (which Haaland might help if he comes), but I can't put my finger why it is

The thing is Ederson is an anomaly, he's incredibly good with his passing and distribution, brilliant under pressure but a very average shot stopper.

He's the perfect keeper for the way we play, but would be average at another team. There's no other keeper in football I can think that is better than Ederson with his distribution and passing but then there are many better shot stoppers than him.
Don't see how anyone can argue with this. A fair statement. But he is totally irreplaceable in our system.

Obviously the hoards of lurking bin dippers bringing their cookies with them. I’d personally like to say a big fuck off to all of them.
They're all turning on that Jamie Webster scruff now for advertising flight packages hahaha #SocialistReds

Still shellshocked from last night, that was truly dejecting. Not quite dejecting on the Porto gradient, but close. Having had time to reflect, this is my two penneth.

I said last night, admittedly when my head was fried, that if Pep leaves us without securing a CL he'll have failed. That may seem harsh, but it's an opinion I stand by. The domestic dominance is something to cherish, nevertheless the board will have envisaged at least one CL success under him by now. The primary objective they will have assigned would have been a CL victory, his reputation precedes him for a reason and the owners know that it's the one trophy that will elevate our stature immeasurably.
On last night's game itself; it was just same old story. We really are our own worst enemy in this competition. Sudden inexplicable lapses that cost us, always in these high pressure CL moments. As soon as Rodrygo scored his first I knew what was coming. That was what hurt the most, the inevitability of it. If this naivety is something inherent within the club then it needs eradicating. There's still a malaise within pockets of the fanbase with regards this competition, maybe that transfers to the players? Whatever it is, something is just off with the way we fare in this competition.

Next season is huge because it is, at least until we have any official confirmation of a renewal, Pep's last season in charge of us. And he simply has to get it right in the CL. It has to be our top priority. Haaland arriving is vital, it gives us that world class focal point I feel you need to get you over the line in the CL. The League Cup and Fa Cup need to be reserved for our youth players; contrary to what the propagandists would have you believe our squad is thin, and we need to save our best for the two big ones.

We won't win the CL next season without a top striker (or two), and some new players with the talent, bollocks, and mental strength to drag us over the line in bad situations, like RM found themselves in last night.

Our squad is as thin as Riyad Mahrez's legs.

The PL is where it matters more.

Been pissed off all day, but now my mood has changed, I'm absolutely furious now about the two goals conceded at the death

Watching that extra time back, the players were like babies not one of them stood up to the challenge, feel sick
This perfect sums up my feelings towards the game late on. Its all that needs to be said really.

TEAM REFRESH PLEASE.

Palmer is very promising, but his goals have been late scores when we’ve had comfortable leads against Wycombe, Swindon and Brugge. That’s a bit different to expecting him to come into the team at Madrid, or against Newcastle.

If he hadn’t been injured he might have added to those late cameos and be ready to start. But at the moment it’s too much to expect him to start in the sort of must win fixtures we currently face

I'm massively annoyed at the loss. Best way I am recovering is thinking at least it wasn't Liverpool in the final!

Whilst I don't necessarily agree with your post. THIS >> "Our squad is as thin as Riyad Mahrez's legs" LOL
