Neymar

This is so… four, five years ago? After the 2018 World Cup for which he got so much stick, the “diving and whining” was severely toned down. I dare anyone to watch him the past few years and tell me he’s anywhere near a Salah or Mane for instance. On the other hand, he’s by far the most fouled player on Ligue 1, sometimes violently, and referees don’t necessarily “protect” players there. That part gets ignored. In the last Copa América final, five Argentinian players received yellow cards from fouling him
He still dives a lot, yes its not as bad as the 2018 World cup, but have seen more than enough of him. He is much much worse than Salah/Mane.

On a side note (not related to the comment), he is a great player but Mbappe definitely has had a better 2 years (or maybe 3?) than Neymar. I definitely think Mbappe is the better player.
His league 1 numbers have been average (for a player of his quality) over the past 2 seasons.
In one way or another, Neymar has missed out on the Ballon D'or at PSG and I don't see him as a top 5 player in the world (currently) right now to take the risks that come along with it. The age/injuries/wages/ego/stye of play (much different to ours) just doesn't seem to be worth the hassle.

You only have to go back to the 2 legs in our CL semi final last season to see the many examples of him throwing himself to the ground, rolling around and feigning injury

this would melt the internet @tolmie's hairdoo

I assumed TH was talking about Pogba to be fair and that ship has long sailed.

Neymar would be massive, though, but can't see it happening. Not even any links to us and hasn't been for years unless I'm mistaken.

Mind you, if we were serious about Pogba and thinking he could do a job here then I don't see why those at the helm wouldn't think the same about Neymar.

Will be ok moving to scouse land , he would fit in with his lack of work rate .
The fans could relate to him !

Should have stayed at Barcelona. He's wasted his career at PSG. He hasn't improved when he had the potential to be a Ballon D'Or winner. If he could play the way he does for Brazil with his club team he'd be one hell of a player. But I think he only sees club football as a means to make money.

100M£ - transfer fee
30M£*4 -120M£ his wages on a 4-year contract
30-40M£ - agent's commissions

It's the whole package of around 250M£. He has shit amortization and nobody would buy him again. The 30-year-old, injury-prone player is even downgrading in terms of marketing. No serious club would buy him.

So he's going to the rags, is that what you're saying :-)

Where can he go that would give him xmas off each season ? His sister would miss out on her present if he has to "work" over christmas !

He’s supremely talented, that has never been in question, however, he’s the epitome of selfish in high pressure situations, which is mainly evident on the CL stage….. he’d be a revelation if he could find a humble bone.. at his best he’s unplayable but let’s not kid ourselves that he’s in cruise mode 90% of the season against mediocre opposition!

He would have been a world class false 9 for us... Well, we've already sorted this out.

Hell no

One of the best talents I've ever seen but no chance and I want us to stay as far away as possible

Hes already 30, gets paid an absolute fortune, is injury prone, doesnt work hard enough, acts like he's a superstar (well he is), is his own boss and will fly off whenever he wants and he'd cost WAYYY too much

As I said.....an unreal talent but not a good signing for us

Reminds me of Hazard to Madrid, he just doesn't fit the type of player we need

He has almost wasted his career in PSG, he could have scored 50 league goals and most wouldn't care.
It would have been a fun signing a few years ago, but I dont think he has it in him any more.

Surely that's impossible, as he is usually injured or suspended for 50% of the games.

Barcelona with Enrique, messi and the old guard around kept him grounded. It was after he left to psg that all hell broke loose with him. It doesnt help they kick the shit out of him on ligue 1 and i understand he rubs some people the wrong way but hes also the last of a dying breed of "joga bonito" brazilian player. Theres no space anymore for players with that magic and flair and its a shame for people who love the beauty of the game of football
