I know that The Athletic doesn’t have a great reputation with City fans. But wasn't Ornstein saying that the Haaland "unveiling" was imminent? And it happened very shortly afterwards. Does he have pretty good connections inside the club, or is he a chancer who got lucky with the Haaland call?

No you can't but in an accounting sense you can.

£37m on a 5 year deal (Gyabi being free) is £7.4m a year (without wages).

£42m on a 5 year deal (Gyabi being £5m) is £8.4m a year but just £3.4m this year (without wages).

So in an accounting sense it's been done to give us better options this summer.

who is Darko Gyabi? Thought I followed the academy semi closely, but apparently not. Never heard of him.

Don't know a very good way of saying this, but at his age and development level, £5m is snapping their fucking hand off. Could be a world beater who is blooming later or will benefit from taking a step into the first team. More likely he's not going to hit our level any time soon.
