Hoping he does well, you never really know how a player will make the jump to this level

I remember in the last couple of games of the Euros, he basically become a passenger towards the end and rice was carrying him, it’s pretty noticeable if you watch those games back. I don’t think that was really anything to do with his ability, I think possibly the mental fatigue of being way above anything he’s been at before in terms of stage and pressure and everything. The reality is that he probably wouldn’t have been a starter then if Henderson was fit.
so he's no hendo then, city just wasted 37 million

Well, I mean he probably wouldn’t have started above Henderson due to experience if Henderson had been fit. That’s not to say he can’t become a better player. But I think the occasion of going deep into an international tournament on that scale really showed in him as the tournament went on.

Just an observation that’s all, because I was saying not every player with talent can just jump up to the highest level and play well
consistently with so much expectation to win, but hopefully he will with us.

If he's playing the midfield enforcer role then hopefully the England caps will help refs ignore him sticking the odd hefty tackle in.

If you watch England mostly to get a sense of Phillips you seem more likely to come to the assessment that he's fairly good at best, but not worth all of our interest.

Watch Leeds regularly enough over the past few seasons and suspect you're more likely to be more excited and see him as an exceptionally strong fit.

I was dreaming about Phillips as an option for us last season and into this.

I thought he was a more realistic, yet exceptional option to replace Dinho or maybe even Rodri when we had major questions about if he could hack it here.

Sure, Bellingham is even "dreamier" but he would cost close to 100m it feels. Quite confident fans will change their minds as those with doubts did about Fernandinho.

Yes, anything can go wrong, but ask fans of other sides who watch a lot of PL games and I can tell you those I have have raved about him.
