Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

Got talking to a bar owner last night in Copenhagen. Bar the result, which will be a comfortable City win, he told me to enjoy the atmosphere and spectacle of Copenhagens support.

I wonder why it is, not just us but in England, nobody generates an atmosphere like the European clubs do, Copenhagen fans are unbelievable tonight!
On our day we are incredible, but nothing like what these are doing tonight.

We like to think were 'all that', but were not, too much 'british reserve’ going on, we need to enjoy these moments before they’re gone

btw - we should do these with 7 men, and that ref! get some nerve man

we have fanbases in this country (not just our own) who are too stuck in their ways to not allow changes.

Obviously people will talk about the PL or all seater stadiums as a reason for declining stadum atmospheres.

Right that’s it. I’ve decided to apply for a job at the Etihad being the coordinator on a tannoy or mega phone. It’s what Pep would want!

Would stop going if some knob on a tannoy was screaming all game telling me when and what to sing

legit just been challenging him on twitter.

all he could come back with is we copy their songs (didnt say which ones) or we use Munich in our songs.

Seemed impressed he hangs out song sheets before games the cretin.
You could tell him that his 'Eric the King' song was sung at Maine Road about Colin Bell at a time when Colin was playing, which is a long time ago now. We copy their songs? What a fucking joke.

Having more pubs near the ground would be great. Loved a few pints before walking up to Maine Road. Unfortunately having more pubs near the Etihad would not be sustainable on non match days. Not sure there’s would be the footfall to keep them going, especially in the current economic shitshow.
Tony at the Townley once said to me that they could survive even if he only opened on a City matchday.

Well you obviously weren’t there this time…

As I said it was a home game at Maine Road pretty sure it was a night match too. And your correct I wasn't there that year

Why would you buy a ticket in a section of the ground where you were instructed what to sing?

Were you at the game tonight Tim?

If you weren’t, you haven’t got a clue. If you were, you’re lying.

Copenhagens support tonight was f*cking superb regardless if they had somebody orchestrating at the front of the lower tier.

2 tiers, 5000-10,000 fans singing for 90 minutes. Getting the rest of the stadium singing. Driving the team on for 90 minutes. Whilst City’s support stood in silence, bar the odd chant, for 90 minutes.

Those City fans who went tonight will know I’m not lying.

There were two City games with two different bands during the first few weeks of that season. The one we are talking about was The Shamen at Highbury where we lost 1-0. It’s discussed in the above report.

Villa away listening to some coked up 20-something yonner and his mates singing ‘Johnny Stones’ whenever anyone tried to get a different song going was different
Not just the FoCs who know how to kill an atmosphere
A lot of our fans are complete and utter dickheads
So just to clarify - because City fans at a City match were singing about a City player who was playing, that makes them complete and utter dickheads ?
