Agree with everything in your post, but the highlighted part is pretty odd, frankly. Do you really think that there's any player out — or Pep — who is arrogant before going into a match with the dippers? If anything, we give them a bit too much respect. A case in point: Phil and the way he was playing for the whole of the first half. Don't know whether it was his decision or Pep's. Doesn't really matter. It was thoroughly negative. Did he take Milner on even once? This is Phil Foden, the brightest young prospect in English football, arguably, against a has-been.
The game turned on a sixpence. There's the truth. It happens. If Liverpool end up higher than us in the table I'll do a naked streak from the South Stand to the Family Stand in the final match of the season. And nobody wants to see that, believe me…

I’d argue it’s arrogant to change your teams winning tactics and play players out of position. In a game of that magnitude. It’s arrogant to make 1 sub on the 88th minute when it’s clear as day we needed a fresh approach. It’s arrogant not to change the game in game. It’s arrogant to let Liverpool have 3/4 one on ones and numerous 3 against 1 or 2 because we are so fukin lax in our passing, set pieces and decision making up top, thinking we will get away with it, Pep always believes in humility in his teams but I don’t see a humble team at anfield. I see an arrogant team that more often than not fucks up with costly stupid mistakes.

I’m also sick to death of watching City players take shit and pushing and shoving off of the oppo after a decision by the ref without my captain getting over there and fukin sorting it out! Bernardo had that cocky jock pushing him about then salad then Van dick gets involved and Haaland tries to be peacemaker! Where is my captain? Where are the other players? Get in their faces and fukin tell them to fuck off!! We always leave a guy on his own taking shit!

In hindsight, I think Pep's reasoning behind including Gundogan wasn't irrational per se, but it wasn't justified ultimately. Gundo can play as a false 9 at Anfield, but he is a bit slow to handle the hassle and tussle in midfield. Grealish would have been more useful with his ability to keep the ball in tight spaces and carry it forward. Also, unlike Foden, he would have at least attempted to dribble past Milner, and not only once.

The players made mistakes, from Cancelo to KDB and Haaland, but Pep's choice of Gundo over Grealish was questionable.

We just looked tired, in particular Ake, Akanji, Rodri and Kev, and couldn't find another gear after going 1 nil down.

It's easy to be smart in hindsight, but changes should've been made earlier to add some energy.

A modern attacking right back is what the likes of Alaba, Ferland Mendy and Reece James are. Joao, like Trent are false fullbacks.

Either way, the manager knows his strengths (e.g. ridiculous passing ability) and weaknesses (e.g. one on one situations like yesterday) and should make tactical decisions to play to his strengths and avoid his weaknesses. Yesterday the way we set up resulted in numerous exposures of his weaknesses. So either the tactics were wrong or he should have been hooked (which is also the managers decision - not that he's in to subs in big games for some odd reason)

Why does everyone need a player to blame? If you end up with a modern attacking right back as your last line of defense against a player like Salah then something has gone drastically wrong before that. Tactically we were not at the races yesterday which led to all sorts of breakaway chances for them, that is only the managers fault (as much as I love him and hope he stays forever)

There were lots of mediocre performances and some poor ones. The player I was left the most frustrated by was Foden, up against a 37 year old he never ran at him once. Milner probably couldn’t believe how easy his game was. Cancealo is ok going forward but should never be left as the only defender as he is useless at it. Pep really needs to learn to stop over respecting good teams and trust his usual formation as it normally works.

Ake isn't the RB we need to release Phil. Had Cancelo played LB milner would have been taken apart.

Love Ake, but he's a CB and should have started there with Akanji.

Klopp knows and he is having fun trolling Pep, he does this thing were before a game, he puts out some kind of snide comment disguised as a compliment and he knows Pep would pick on it and get angry. Klopp is as German as they come. He knows he has a fucking forest in his eyes but he would rather talk about the spec of wood in your eye! This behavior really gets under Pep's skin.

Klopp is a hypocrite, he knows it and he is comfortable with who he is. Notice how he has been playing the role of the repentant kid who's willing to accept his punishment?After the game, he went to the media to say he deserved the red card, you think he would have said that if they lost? He knows how to play the media better than Pep and that shit has Pep furious.

Pep needs to take the 2011/2012 Mancini approach. I remember Micah saying there was a media Boycott at the training ground, no one read the papers or talked to the media for a while and thats how Pep needs to play this situation. No media talk in the training ground, no complements for the opposition, no snide remarks either, shitty short pre-match interviews, a complete disregard for the dippers and the media, just treat the fuckers like they don't exist and get on with the game.

Was at the game so didn't see the VAR decision on the goal. Just watched it this morning and I'm still bitter about it.
As Shearer always says where's the clear and obvious error? Taylor was weak there he should have told the VAR guy to fck off before he went to the monitor. 100 percent that goal stands if they score it

Depends what you class as clear and obvious but on the replay it was a foul. Hate VAR for many reasons but can’t blame it for yesterday’s defeat

Yeah, I stupidly felt confident all week going into the game as my posts will show. I saw their team line up and thought, we can do a number on this lot today. Then I saw how we were lining up and thought - I'll take a win of any description, maybe even a point wouldn't be so bad.

Liverpool didn't play the way they usually do. They were deeper and played the counter more than they normally would - especially at Anfield. Klopp set them up differently and it was hard to get in behind them when we were in the final third due to them dropping so deep. Other sides have picked their mess of a defence apart this season, it's made much harder when they are instructed to defend, keep shape and treat it like a cup final.

Cancelo on the right had a poor game. Not just for the error at the goal, but on numerous occasions he was guilty when in possession throughout the 90 minutes. That said, KDB on that right had side felt a waste too, he appears more inclined to play high balls to Haaland when at times Cancelo was open on his right hand side and better placed to deliver into the box.

What the hell was the deal with Foden too? Almost as if he was instructed not to attack Milner out of sympathy and play left wing back in front of Ake.

It was a piss poor set up from the gaffer and accusations will be thrown at him about overthinking a big game again. Throw in a dodgy VAR decision to chalk off our goal and the referee allowing the game, to quote Neville on commentary, to be a "throw back" to years gone bye. You cannot prepare for that - he let so much go it felt like a different sport at times. There was an incident on the touch line when someone literally threw Bernardo to the ground, a free kick in a dangerous position, surely? No - play on...

A BIG reaction required against Brighton this week as this game coupled with the 0-0 in Denmark has me asking a few questions of the set up and squad depth that I hadn't really considered an issue until yesterday.

Don’t disagree that Grealish should have started but until about the last 3 games the main criticism of him has been for not taking on fullbacks. Foden not going at Milner when one on one was just bizarre. Even more so after him terrorising him last season at Anfield

Because the primary job of a defender is to defend, the attacking part of his game is a huge bonus.

We was unlucky yesterday and never got the decisions once again at Klanfield. Simple mistakes cost us the game we all knew if they was going to score it was going to be that ball over the top and unfortunately Cancelo made a mistake. At least we have no midweek game and get back to business on Saturday.
