Why are we hated so much?

Absolutely this.
I think you will find the rags are still actually very more despised by fans of other clubs than we are for that reason. Yes, Ferguson and most of his players were deeply unlikable people, but it really comes down to them pretty much monopolising English football between 1993 and 2011. Those of us who are older hate Liverpool for their dominance between around 1973-1990 (and more recently behaviour of club and fans).
I am not sure it is preventable if we keep winning. The thing to do is remain gracious in victory and defeat, enjoy our (considerable) successes and quietly revel in the tribal petty mindedness of others.
I admire your attitude but I think we’ve been a bit too gracious for years to be honest. And all we’ve got from it is to be subjected to a level of bile way out of proportion to anything we’ve ever done. Read any City thread in a national paper and it’s infested by people saying ‘soulless, no fans, horrible cheating club’…don’t see any other club getting this level of stick, clubs with far more chequered histories and nastier pasts than ours.

My attitude now is defend the club at all costs and apologise for absolutely nothing. Discussions about what the club might or might not be getting right are strictly between blues. ‘Outside the house’ I won’t be conceding anything. The fact we went from being liked as failures to hated as successes tells me that other fans opinions are fickle and shallow and as such mean jackshit.

My kids keep me informed on what’s happening at other clubs but I don’t seek it out. I try and watch as little news as possible these days because so much of it is manipulative. My interest in football is about seeing my team fight for my city. I can enjoy a game of football that we’re not in but it’s not going to stay with me. Couldn’t really give a fuck who is in or out at Southampton, not my business, so it irritates me that other fans want to involve themselves in ours. For years I simply haven’t cared enough about other teams to feel like I actually ‘hate’ their supporters, but the feeling that the world would see City destroyed has got my blood up.

I think its hatred born out of jealously which is mostly inherent in the followers of the so called big four.
Life was a doddle when the cartel were sweeping all before them but now with City here to stay their lives have become shallow, empty like a ping pong ball.
It was not meant to be like this. Hang your hat on the big club and a lifetime of pyrrhic pleasure because success of your club is everything.
They cannot but hope that one day a white charger will come along and sweep City into the abyss so their sad, empty lives will once again have a semblance of meaning.

Got fantastic owners.

Got honest fantastic owners.

The club and the whole FSG is run like clockwork and run by successful businessmen.

And they are from the middle east and therein lies the problem.

Don't care what people say the whole hatred and backlash is racially motivated, 200%.

I'm as pissed off as probably most of us are with the witch hunt surrounding us at the moment, but despite all the vitriol in the media, I've never expeienced any animosity towards me on a personal level whilst attending away games.

That matters to me more than the jouvenile scribblings on social media by the majority that have never attended a game in their lives, but it is a fact of life, sadly, that despite what the club do to clear our name in the latest stitch up, the mud will stick.

We are seen as cheats, and it's something we'll just have to live with. Whatever evidence is provided that exonerate us from the latest charges, and I'm confident that will happen, in the minds of the many, we'll have bought the judges!

We can't escape the overall opinion we have fixed everything in our favour because of our owners wealth.

I remember last summer having a conversation with somebody about the transfer of Erling Haaland, and he was fixed in his opinion it was a dodgy deal because there was no way a striker of that ability could be bought for the price we paid.

When I pointed out it was the written cost of his release clause in his contract, he dismissed it by saying a deal had been done between City and Haarland before he moved to Germany and we were always going to get him on a good deal that didn't reflect the true value of him when he moved to City because we'd given a bung to Wolfsburg!

I can't say I was that bothered about his irrational train of thought, but it is indicative of the sort of stupidity we are facing, not only from fans of other clubs, but also from the ruling bodies of the game determined to find us guilty of breaking the rules despite evidence to the contrary being provided in a ruling court of arbitration that threw the charge sheet in the bin!

Forza City, Allez le Bleus, Come on you Blues, and fuck what the rest of the world think.
So are Wolfsburg going to be investigated now.

Agreed.

A lot of the money City have spent on players from UK clubs like Grealish, Stones, Ake etc has trickled down to lower league clubs, which helps in terms of keeping them solvent. Also City's owners have completely revitalised an area of Manchester that was an industrial wasteland. Surely big money coming into the game is a good thing, unless of course FFP is more about keeping the legacy clubs on top.
And why shouldn't oil rich arabs own things, their money is not illegally gained. They don't interfere with the running of the club. They have a product everyone needs....Ohh hang on, they're not the right colour.

It always makes me laugh when thick twats call the likes of City a "filthy oil club" most of the imbeceles don't consider the fact that the used Audi or BMW (which they will adorn with some lame brain personalised number plates) they're saving their pennies for will only run if there is filthy oil and petrol to put in it.

Speaking as a Boro fan, I would say we certainly don't hate City. I've always had a lot of time for City fans going back to the early 90s when we played you in both cup competitions in the same season, probably around '92. Sold out both away ends, there was hell on like but that was just the way it was in those days.

I never hated Chelsea when Roman Ambramovich bought them. I welcomed more competition like I did when Newcastle were taken over.

The rags I hate out of duty and I’ve just never liked Liverpool ever. Success means nothing to me. It’s just gut instinct.

Certain clubs seem to attract idiot fans too.

We were harmless, everyone's second club. Huge crowds, huge away support. Cool connections. How they marvelled at our stoicism, our gallows humour, our occasional moments of unparalleled joy...

As long as we were never a threat to the red shirt cabal.

However, as God willed it, we smashed them, humiliated them, brought them to their knees.

They and their media shills can't comprehend it, it simply does not compute. They pine for the 80's, the 90's, the 00's and the way things used to be. The way things should be, the way things have always been.

They cry themselves to sleep in their Bob Paisley/Baconface/Wenger jimjams...

And they wake up bitter and twisted.

"Clear and organised."
