Why are we hated so much?

We were harmless, everyone's second club. Huge crowds, huge away support. Cool connections. How they marvelled at our stoicism, our gallows humour, our occasional moments of unparalleled joy...

As long as we were never a threat to the red shirt cabal.

However, as God willed it, we smashed them, humiliated them, brought them to their knees.

They and their media shills can't comprehend it, it simply does not compute. They pine for the 80's, the 90's, the 00's and the way things used to be. The way things should be, the way things have always been.

They cry themselves to sleep in their Bob Paisley/Baconface/Wenger jimjams...

And they wake up bitter and twisted.

"Clear and organised."

The sad thing is Bob Paisley was actually a decent bloke and age for would have battered Bingo.

I don't think we are hated overall. Twitter twats aside it's the premier league establishment. I know supporters of Forest, Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds pretty well who don't hate City for example.
True.

It's a small group of fans of the previously "big" clubs - United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs - who are just plain jealous.

I don't think it's even all of the fans of those clubs. If you look at the comments sections under Youtube videos of recent games for example, you will see countless positive posts from neutrals, and even from fans of the clubs above, praising how we play and some of our players. The Arsenal game is a prime example. I think more fans wanted to see us win that game than wanted to see Arsenal win. You see positive comments from Arsenal fans, United fans and the rest.

Of course footy is tribal and we all want our own team to win. But I think most fans recognise and can appreciate stunningly good football when they see it. No-one was slagging off KDB for that opening goal. Everyone just said Wow!

Speaking as a Boro fan, I would say we certainly don't hate City. I've always had a lot of time for City fans going back to the early 90s when we played you in both cup competitions in the same season, probably around '92. Sold out both away ends, there was hell on like but that was just the way it was in those days.
was at Ayresome Park for both the games 91/92 season lost 2-1 in LC nobody could see 1st half as it was thick with fog , then was 1-0 up in FA Cup 3rd round with Reidy scoring before losing 2-1 , was gutted that Boro then won promotion and took 6 points off us the following season

I don’t think we are hated as much as people think by the general footballing public.

We are however hated by a lot of the self entitled istree clubs fans and their media lackeys whose shrillness dominates the media.
To maintain domination or control, sometimes it’s necessary to create a diversion, an imagined enemy, the evil guy.

A bit like immigrants being the root of all your problems.

Well that’s us. We are being made out to be what is ruining the game, whereas the reality is the cartel are doing a fine job of that.

As an outsider, as a person who comes from a completely different part of the country, I would say City aren't as hated as United and Liverpool or even Leeds. If you asked people in my corner of London who their top 5 most hated clubs were, we would have each other (as in other London clubs) near the top followed by United and Liverpool and then Leeds or Brighton depending on the club they support (Chelsea fans would say Leeds, Palace fans would say Brighton for example). I haven't come across many who outright hate City.

That said, if you asked people specifically about City, you likely wouldn't get a positive answer.

I was going to say thank you for a positive answer until the last paragraph :)

But on that, if no-one hates us as a club, per se, why do you think there isn't much positivity around when it comes to City. No recognition that we broke the United (recent)/Liverpool (historically) dominance, no recognition of the 2012 and 2022 season finales beating United and Liverpool, No recognition of the way City have changed the way the game is played in the last six years? Why do you think that is?

Your last paragraph is probably what the op meant by hated. It proves what an excellent job the media has done in insidiously brainwashing fans of other clubs. Every game constantly mentioning how much our team and bench cost compared to the other team, yet never mentioning this when the other big spending clubs play. Refering to us as state owned, which we're not and oil money ( As if that's somehow worse than other ways of earning money) and that we have a bigger squad than anyone else. Of course they never mention everybody is allowed the same sized squad and due to ffp can only spend the money they generate. Even when CAS cleared us they said we'd escaped on a technicality, which wasn't true and mention the 10 million pound fine for non cooperation. Too right we didn't bloody cooperate, the same with the premier league, when everything we said and sent was being leaked to our rivals and the press.
Then we have the downplaying of our achievements. Never headlines, if we are then we are quickly bumped down the pages. Crying it was unfair competition when we thrashed Watford 6-0 in the fa cup final when if a red shirted team has done it then it would have been "Ruthless United/Liverpool put on a superb display to show how good they are and crush poor Watford in the process." On and on it goes, never ending. After ten years of this no wonder other fans aren't positive about our club.

Coz they don’t understand our Manc twang and swagger. We’re the local lads come good. We’re everything they could be but aren’t. We’ve got the style. We’re super fuckin sexy and our kit is the best in the world. They want to be us but know they’re destined to stand in the rain licking our windows.

Forest fans called us names like "cheating bastards"

Where can I report this hate crime?

Don’t give a flying feck how opposite fans express their envy. I have more problems with the media’s loyalty towards USA based or favoured teams. A sheik and money simply doesn’t go down well.

Things are about to change if Qatar sportwash united. We are all in it together now -:)

I was out shopping in Warrington and had a City jacket on. Received a few scowls and a spectacular “so how long have you supported City for?” from the man in the kiosk. I’m 43.

It never happened when we couldn’t buy a goal at home under Pearce.
Im from Warrington , we have got a decent group of us who have been following City for years . I just fuck the arm chair united and scousers off . Nobody scowls anything at us .
