Was reading a lost pet facebook page yesterday about a dog doing the rounds up near Accrington, wandering around on its own, killed a couple of cats and has been going for Kids and adults. No idea if its been found yet.
Shame about the Cat mate, there are no bad dogs just owners IMHO.
Im calling fake on that. Someone blew a whistle 2/3rds through it. The dogs didnt listen but that is not real, imho

Make a flirt pole out of 6ft of cane attach 6ft of string ( washing line) to one end. Tape a water bottle to the open string end ( having first got the dogs intrested in the bottle through play/ after removing all other distractions).I've an Akita/Collie cross and a Staffie/Alsation cross.
Both great dogs and great with kids and other dogs in the wider family and when out but I am totally rigid when it comes to them being off lead, can't see when it would ever happen around people or other dogs.
I only ever let them off in out of the way places and am sure we're alone. They're both obedient but am careful in the extreme when kids are around probably more so than with previous dogs because of the reports in the media at the moment.
Don't know how others feel with dogs mentioned on dangerous dogs lists but it makes me more vigilant I hope.
It wouldn’t do any harm to add the “breed” to a banned list, though. Dogs such as these that kill should be subject to some sort of check to ensure owners know their responsibility. Christ I don’t even let my Westie alone with kids. The breed is already banned. The ignorance of law is just astounding.
While the act defines dogs by their type rather than their breed (more on this later) the act specifically indicates four breeds of dog which are labelled as 'specially controlled dogs' and are as a general rule illegal to own, breed or sell within the UK. These dogs are :
The act also covers cross breeds and mixed breeds with ancestry from the above four mentioned dog breeds, and also those having significant physical characteristics or traits of the breeds in question.
- The Pit Bull Terrier
- Japanese Tosa
- Dogo Argentino
- Fila Brasiliero
The XL is a direct descendent of the American Pit-Bull, and is therefore covered within current legislation. This smacks of populist opportunism and ignorance, which is typical of this government.
The list is utterly pointless because it is already not policed. The fact that experts are already in ignorance of the law is mind-blowing to me. DNA testing will immediately confirm the lineage of any Bully, and they are, ABSOLUTELY, already banned. Breeders are creating these dogs in their flats up and down the nation. They promote their dogs on Instagram and TikTok and then meet and sell. Without intelligent monitoring and policing, the destiny of this law is utterly predictable. It wouldn’t do any harm to add the “breed” to a banned list, though. I’ve been absolutely speechless at times over the decades when you’d hear on the TV or read “A,B and C , an ‘expert’ in the field will be on shortly”, only to come on and be so wrong on so many things. The list is utterly pointless because it is already not policed. They are already banned! If banning them makes makes a dent in even some of the numbers of people owning them - then it's still worth doing. I'm an animal lover, but these things are a fucking menace and need to go along with a whole host of other types of dog.
Really just needs to be any dog over say 35KG (for reference my German Shepherd was 42KG) requires a licence with bi annual behaviour tests from a vet link this to the chip then its easy to check on the street. The list is utterly pointless because it is already not policed. It is policed, although definitely not enough. I knew of one guy who had some great beast of a dog, although it seemed fine to me. Unfortunately it snapped at another dog, the police called at the owner’s house and they did tests on the dog to see what its ancestry was. Last I saw it was muzzled (and looking rather sad for itself) awaiting its results. Haven’t seen it for a while since but fear it may have been seized as a banned breed (or descendant of).The list is utterly pointless because it is already not policed.
