Wolves PL (A) | Post Match Discussion

It has to do a lot. He is mentioning a player (Gomez) who did not even play. Or implying if we got rid of him, we could get another MF player, who would not be able to play on the left and who would be sitting on the bench most of the time. And he mentioned another player (Phillips) who has nothing to do with us conceding two idiotic goals, something that became signature of City in 2-3 games per season. Or implying we need another world class DM that is prepared to sit on the bench and jump in when Rodri is tired or suspended. Wolves were no more compact or ready to defend than WHU or Forest, it was just not our day, forget the bloody game and move on.
Again what the fuck has that got to do with Haaland?

Doku, Nunes and Kova are squad players at best none look like they will relpace Gundo or Mahrez, With Stones and Laporte not there it seems we struggle with creativity coming out of defense
We are still top of the league, and confused as fuck

They‘ve played like 7 games on and off after they signed this season.Inbetween internationals and pep’s surgery, not much time with pep . If you expect them to be over night hit than you need some reality check .

Because Haaland was ABJECT in another of the games where defenders sit deep with no vertical or horizontal movement whatsoever, but somehow it was (always) Gomez or Phillips who are named when we get the a poor result. If we lose , we lose as a team, but do not go around throwing the names of players who had nothing to do with it. And if you want naming players who were shit then name the ones who were. But somehow Erling is protected like Giant panda.

It was definitely a poor performance we did absolutely nothing to trouble Jose Sa.
The stats still show a dominant performance in all areas. We still had enough to beat them comfortably. It was another one of those smash and grabs.

Jack shit, he was shocking, I said earlier he is a liability if he does not score.

For such a unit, easily bullied, crap in the air and incredibly often lacks fight, his goalscoring is off the scale but he is way off the level of an elite player that apart.
No-one bullies Haaland, he has unbelievable aerial ability when given the service and runs his balls off. What player have you been watching the last fourteen months?

Glad you are letting them settle in and getting used to the system

I’ve seen the whole game now.

City’s performance was not awful; it was somewhat toothless going forward and maybe lacking intensity and conviction. The team did not lack effort though, you cannot dominate possession and territory as City did without putting in a shift.

When a team defends as Wolves did, you need a bit of magic or luck to break through and both were in short supply yesterday, Julian’s excellent free kick aside.

City didn’t even defend badly, despite the stick Ake is getting. Are had a tough time because it is difficult to defend high against a player who has such superior pace and space to run into.

City were very unfortunate to conceded 2 goals. Both Wolves goals had a couple of spawny elements to them plus a gol scorer who should have had a 2nd yellow long before he scored - a disgraceful piece of refereeing from the next to useless Pawson. Wolves literally got the breaks and City didn’t.

Bemoaning bad luck and the absence of key players does not change the fact that the team City fielded should have done better and Pep picked out failures in the process that he will no doubt talk to the team about this week and look to put right for two big games.

Looking forward, we have the two best midfield players in the world to come back, the best ball playing centre back and Bernardo. Kova and Jack are probably not at full match fitness yet and all the new signings and Bobb need time to get fully up to speed.

Last weekend, prior to Rodri losing his cool, City played some magnificent football and we looked to be warming up nicely. We’ve had a couple of bad results in a row, which is very unusual so ut is important to bounce back in midweek.
Obviously, we don't know much about Oscar Bobb's character, but based on what I've seen, and he's barely dipped his toes in the Prem, he looks like a potential stellar player.

People are rightly bemoaning the absence of Rodri but an even bigger miss IMHO is Gundogan. We miss his ability to drift seemingly unoticed into an opponent's penalty area and score vital goals. Perhaps only David Silva was better than him at finding space in crowded a penalty area.

Depends which angle you see it from.

Can't be bothered to watch it again but the Scousers were robbed yesterday - oh dear!
They were

It was not a sending off, and their goal was clearly onside (dias).....we cannot claim that there is an agenda against us when our main rivals are getting equally bad decisions.

What we can say is that the standard of officiating across the board is appalling for all teams - every team has grounds for complaints.

The only annoying thing is that now its happened to the scousers there seems to be a swell of support for the anti VAR movement but when it was us no one cared....but that is down to the media and their blatant bias and support for the likes of the rags and scousers.

The other negative impact is that this could really galvanise he scousers/their feral fans etc and help Klopp et al create a feeing a little like Pep did last season with the PL charges against us....it galvanised us ...this could do the same for them

Not sure many of us thought Haaland was going to become the latest scapgoat.

I'm not at all surprised mate. I thought from the first time I saw him that he's not a particularly good footballer. He's a great goalscorer but, despite what people think about his 'movement', he offers little else.

If he doesn't score, he's a passenger. Simple as that.

Watching him this season, I'm wondering if he's suffering from 'second season decline' under Pep rather than improvement.

Pep certainly doesn't seem to be playing to his strengths.

Wow, I guess we could say the same about Aguero too.

Goalscorers are a very rare breed. You have to incorporate them into your side, whoever is managing.

Even Pep knows this. He also knows Alvarez is a better footballer, hence he plays too, but he never drops Haaland.

Every single person on this forum trusts Pep's judgement over yours.

I was amazed at the abuse Distin got in that game - a former club captain who'd given us several years of very good service and left on good terms. Shabby treatment from many City fans that day.
Just goes to show the tribal mentality of football fans is not just off the pitch its on it aswell. They live in the now and forget all positive things players brought to their team. As for Nunes, he downed tools at Wolves so its no surprise they weren't happy. The one that really was bizarre was the booing of Sterling by everyone not just the scum.
