Wolves PL (A) | Post Match Discussion

Totally agree, a squad of the size we have means no passengers at all.

Phillips and probably Gomez are taking up valuable spaces and for me are simply not good enough to contribute when needed.

Three games a week , plus international games is a hell of an ask for top players and it can only be done for a time before injuries and tiredness hit.
What did Erling contribute exactly yesterday?

How Hwang doesn't receive a 2nd yellow and get sent off is beyond me...and then he scores the winner to add salt to the wounds...

We are better than hoping a player gets sent off, Just an off day sadly and Mama said there will be days like this

over the past 4 or 5 seasons we have learnt to take the officials out of the game and win titles and cups because of the quality in the squad in winning matches for fun, Even in them seasons we have a couple of shockers and they are sort of a wake up call Pep uses the players to bring them back down to earth.

NO alarm bells and onwards to the champions league game

Jack shit, he was shocking, I said earlier he is a liability if he does not score.

For such a unit, easily bullied, crap in the air and incredibly often lacks fight, his goalscoring is off the scale but he is way off the level of an elite player that apart.

Agreed, but none of that changes the fact that Hwang's actions should have resulted in a sending off, simple as...

Or the commentator as he was quickly out just after him saying "and that's a frre kick".
Richards seemed like a Cheshire cat as well when going on about how quiet Haaland was
I wonder how long Micah has left as a pundit. He’ll run out of stories and he doesn’t add much else to any show that he’s on.

That new podcast is already beginning to become samey and it’s not been going long.

Heading it to an opponent close to your six yard box is poor.
You make it sound like he passed it to him.

Akanji was scrambling across goal and got as much contact on the ball as he could, deflecting it to stop the first attacker a tap in. The initial cross was also deflected, giving him less time to react.

It could have gone anywhere, but unluckily for us, it landed at a Wolves player.

It‘s time to stop this nonsense blaming Akanji.

What's that got to do with what he posted?

Haaland had a poor game but I'm pretty sure we can allow him a bit of slack.
It has to do a lot. He is mentioning a player (Gomez) who did not even play. Or implying if we got rid of him, we could get another MF player, who would not be able to play on the left and who would be sitting on the bench most of the time. And he mentioned another player (Phillips) who has nothing to do with us conceding two idiotic goals, something that became signature of City in 2-3 games per season. Or implying we need another world class DM that is prepared to sit on the bench and jump in when Rodri is tired or suspended. Wolves were no more compact or ready to defend than WHU or Forest, it was just not our day, forget the bloody game and move on.

Kovacic isn’t an option as a DM. He was truly dreadful, but Nunes can’t play their either and Phillips just isn’t an option. We need to reinforce the midfield in January with someone who is capable playing as a 6 or an 8.
He’s had one game there, when he’s probably 60% fit. It’s a little early to write him off there.

Remember when we all thought Gundogan wasn’t a 6?

It wasn't the result I hoped for yesterday, but it doesn't happen too often thankfully. I think haaland must be so frustrated at the tactics sometimes. You can see him asking for the ball to be put through on numerous occasions, to give him a chance to use his power and speed, but usually ends up sideways and backwards. It would be great if someone could just mix up the tactics once in a while. I'm sure there's players in the team who can do that. They do seem to want to keep possession which is important, but can take away the impetus when we've won it back. Overall we're doing well. Top of the league, so it's not all bad. I'd just like to see us giving haaland a different kind of pass ,every now and then.
