Suella Braverman - sacked as Home Secretary (p394)

You're confusing the Tory party with the electorate. He had broad appeal that would have persisted if we had not been nobbled by COVID. It was a golden opportunity to seize the red wall seats from Labour, deliver on what was promised and keep them blue for the foreseeable. Sadly, we completely ran out of money and too many people made mischief out of stupid nonsense like who had a glass of wine when they shouldn't have, when in fact 70m people flouted the lockdown rules anyway, the steaming hypocrites.

Johnson’s net satisfaction rating was dismal throughout his premiership. Both Cameron and May reached a higher positive rating and Johnson‘s only positive rating bounce was at the start of the pandemic when he came down with covid.

It‘s a myth that Johnson was seen as a popular PM. He had high name recognition and ‘popularity‘ as a media figure, but his rating as an effective or popular PM was always weak.

“Despite what you may think, Boris Johnson has never been that popular. For example, he was less popular in the 2019 general election than May was in 2017. He only did well because, by that point, Corbyn was incredibly unpopular." @opinium

I'll take what you say in face value Bob.

But I just had a chuckle to myself at the list of people who have chosen to step in and contradict me. It's like a who's who of the usual lefties :-) Quelle surprise.

Where is @ifiwaonly, I wonder?

My reply to you was correcting an error you made, not contradicting you.

I’ll tell you what I chuckle at.

The ignorant, ill informed nonsense that you clearly actually believe and regurgitate ad nauseam.

Assuming you believe in something I’d like to see you say what you actually believe in?

To be clear, what are your values?

I replied to you and I’m not a “leftie”. I’ve voted for all the parties. I simply comment sometimes on the most incompetent government in my lifetime, not by a bit, but by a million miles, which is what I did to you attempting to whitewash their disgrace.

The use of the infantile “lefty” and “woke” to anyone who happens to disagrees with the hard right politics of hate and division, in leu of a counter argument, has become one of the most popular tools of these political incompetents, by the way. You are not in good company.

A lot of rational people are angry at what these people have done over the last few years and so should you be. These are not normal times any more. This government have defiled UK politics and damaged us all, economically and culturally, and I have zero sympathy or empathy for anyone who enables or excuses this, however subtly. That doesn’t make me a fucking “leftie”.

All 77 million of them.

What a post, deserves more than just a like. Succinct and cuts through the right wing rhetoric that if you aint with them you are 'woke' or a left wing looney. When actually you can see this government for what they are devisive, scaremongering, political point scorers with no interest but there own. A party that seeks to divide through policies that devide us as a nation on policies like immigration that ultimately make no difference to the vast majority of our lives. But get the little englander tory vote and stops a handful of immigrants comparative to other nations of similar economic standing.

So the question is when, it’s was clearly a direct challenge to Sunak and if she stays she will be even more emboldened
I can only conclude the reason she is still in post is
a)Sunak must think the Tories have a chance of winning the next election under his leadership.
b) He wants this next year to line his own pocket a little more before the inevitable disaster at the polls

Edit: neither stance is putting the Country first.

Definitely B. Sunak’s family links to oil and gas, and with his fawning over the likes of Musk and Koch, he is one of many who are plundering our country and leaving it and state of chaos.

No wonder he wants to keep Braverman around, it takes the focus of all the shit that’s going on in the background. He‘ll be off back to America after his disastrous stint, that would have been the plan all along.

Wouldn't it be nice if politicians were investigated independently and any wrongdoings resulted in them before a court of law with prosecutions and jail terms issued. Maybe, they would clean theeir acts up then and put the Country first

Aye, sure.
Well I would be pretty damned dim to think I could fool people into thinking the UK population was 10m higher than it actually is, by simply posting 77m not 67m, wouldn't I. And I am not particularly dim. FFS everyone knows what the UK population is. Dear God use your noggin for once.
