What potential concessions? We don't need their permission now and if anything it is worse that when the vote was taken. Anyone who wasn't blinkered by their own pet obsession could see that the main benefits spouted by the leavers were never going to be delivered.
Therein lies the reason Remain lost. Trotting out bollocks like “pet obsession” and “blinkered”.

The main reason they lost was the perfect storm of the anti immigrant rhetoric being backed by mainstream media and force fed into the many who only look at things in black and white.
The remain campaign was awful and they only have themselves to blame for being marginalised whilst the leave campaign went all patriotic bells and whistles.

A vote tomorrow would see a different result I reckon. As that’s not on the cards the U.K. have to swallow it and make the best of it, sadly until this government is gone it feels like you are in some kind of purgatory.

To most people politics isn't a hobby you have to spell it out, accepting that calling people racists and stupid even before they vote was not a great idea.

When I saw Geldof and the champagne cunts on the boat my heart sunk.

The unity demonstrated here on Brexit shows the true genius of bringing back into government the man whose cowardice (ahem, sorry, foresight) enabled the referendum that ushered it in.

Very true, and as well as that was calculated use of social to fill people’s feeds with bullshit scare stories that triggered people who normally have no interest in politics.

I think the saying goes “not all vote leaves are racists, but all racists voted leave”
That's not true as you can see from the below. Plenty of Remainers held racist attitudes as well. Not as big a percentage as Leave voters but a significant number nonetheless:

"Brits who voted Leave in the EU referendum are more likely to describe themselves as "racially prejudiced" than those who voted Remain, according to new research.

A survey of 2,220 people found that 34% of Leave voters admitted holding racist attitudes compared to 18% of Remain voters.

The study, conducted by the National Centre for Social Research, found 26% of Britons still described themselves as "very" or "a little" prejudiced towards people of other races."

Good grief.

Did someone say "off piste"?

That's this thread, that is.

Sunak has the balls to bring back Cameron as he realises that appealing to racists and Leavers (and racist Leavers) is a policy of diminishing returns.

And we've had umpteen pages about "why Brexit?" rather than about why no MP in the existing Cabinet is good enough to occupy one of the great offices of State.

I think it's so he can go into a GE knowing that at least one member of the Cabinet can't lose his seat in the election.

Self-reporting on this kind of thing is really contentious because people hold themselves to very different standards.

Some people could be goose-stepping around all day engaging in the most obviously racist behaviour you will see and yet will claim they’re not racist. They’ll say “it’s just my sense of humour” or something like that.

Others will chastise themselves relentlessly for feeling slightly nervous when talking to a woman wearing a burqa. Some people think they are subconsciously racist by virtue of their upbringing and there’s nothing they can do about it no matter how well they treat other people.

Basically any survey constructed this way is of very limited value.

How often do you have a conversation with someone in a burqa? I assume you mean Niqab as Burqa is the garment that covers the whole face with a mesh, seen in Afghanistan.

They have gendered segregation, so they wouldn't talk to males they aren't related or married to unless it was unavoidable e.g passport control at airports or shopping.

Funny, I used to work in the same organisation as a woman who wore a niqab. Not only did she talk to me, she actually hugged me on one occasion as a sign of friendship. (I must admit I was taken aback, but that was my prejudice)

Well over 90% of Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and Atheists just want to live their lives in peace, enjoy their hobbies and their families, celebrate their festivals, fall in love, marry, have kids and die in their beds.

It's always the minority of extremists and bigots who are the problem. The people who want everyone to be exactly like them, think like them, whatever. I know it's more challenging to live in a mixed society than one where everyone is C of E and white, but that's what we have. We either make it work or we have endless conflict and hatred.

Yes indeed you’re right, I should have said niqab. I’m just demonstrating the kind of brazen ignorance of other cultures that would lead to me convincing myself that I’m racist in the aforementioned survey.

So when a conservative, does a conservative thing, they get flinged out. Makes me laugh when people opine how right wing of a government they are.

They are.

You're so far the right (though you will deny it) that you wouldn't think so.

She did what a BNP/NF/EDL supported would do.

You think it's the job of a conservative home secretary to confect a public feud with the Met police and incite a baying mob to start kicking off at the Cenotaph on armistice Day?

Admit it, you're just annoyed cos she a bit fash and you like that.

I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying if she is unpalatable for the Tories, it kind of makes the right wing evil party moniker kind of moot.
