PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Came across this great post in the Telegraph yesterday.....

"The establishment of the PL in 1992 was primarily driven by LFC , Man u & Arsenal. Renowned Liverpool fan, Rick Parry, fulfilled a principal role as a management consultant. Together they planned the PL as a breakaway from the English Leagues. Parry was then appointed first CEO of the PL.

The commercial gains from the PL mainly revolved around these 3 clubs with Spurs & Everton added.

The breakaway European Super League was led by the same 3 clubs. They were motivated by similar commercial aims as in 1992, and the realisation that they were not able to regularly qualify for the Champions League which provided huge income. In due course, the former CEO`s / Financial Directors of LFC and MUFC, Parry and Gill, obtained key positions at UEFA. Influence could be wielded.

New `rules` were crafted. Ultimately their purpose was to retain the `Golden Goose` in the hands of the G-14 organisation for the benefit of those clubs. The `rules` were not primarily for a wider altruistic, common good despite how they were presented, Self protectionism was the end game. Platini was briefed. The disingenuously labelled `financial fair play` (ffp) rules were re-drafted. High levels of club debt were allowed.

Later, when ffp began to be `tested`, the New York Times published stories based allegedly on confidential information to be the subject of UEFA proceedings. Through their sources, they produced misleading opinion pieces before ffp hearings were even held.

NUFC want to invest for growth and success, like most clubs and businesses. They are now aware of the deeper machinations. The PL`s Chair is a self confessed Man u fan. Gill is still at UEFA. Parry is before a Govt hearing next week.

Who are the masters of Masters? Who has been pulling the strings?"
Fuck me! Has someone dropped the Torygraph on its head or something? First an article claiming:

"Brexit's become the prime suspect in the death of the Stock Market, with Apple now valued more, at £2.3bn"

And now this realisation of what FFP was really about. Wonders will never cease to amaze me...

Nah, it was a post in the comments section on an article on FFP. I thought it hit the nail on the head.

FFP is ruining the potential of the Premier league , a couple of seasons ago Messi could have signed for us but the wage package was unsustainable , Mbappe coming to the Premier league is a pipe dream due to his wages ,and a lot of players are taking the silver offered in Saudi , Salah will be next on over a reported £1m per week.
FFp will mean that players and their agents will follow the money to whoever will pay it , and it will not be to europe due to the strict FFP rules , wouldnt be surprised if there is a mass exodus of talent over the next couple of years from the Premier league which will devalue the "brand".
Would you blame KDB if he was offered £1m a week next season at 33 years of age after he has won every club honour in the game ?
I fully understand a desire to stop clubs going to the wall, & to end inflation in football. However, this was never the intention of FFP.

All the highest fees & wages ever paid in world football come from those clubs vehemently in favour of FFP.

What's now dawning on the likes of Everton, Villa, Newcastle, many media outlets & others who supported FFP is the reality there's a glass ceiling over their heads, & if they try to break through it to compete, points deductions & punitive fines will follow.

We warned em... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At least the reality narrative is appearing more & more, across different platforms recently.

Albeit not in defence of City, the fact other clubs are now facing what we did, strengthens our premise that FFP was introduced to protect the hegemony of the European elite from outside competition.

City must be collectively sat there puffing on the finest Havana's, munching on buckets of popcorn as the FFP carnage ensues. :-)

I disagree. I think the Saudi league will go the way of the Chinese league within 2/3 years.

To be honest, the Chinese football revolution was all about national pride & global prestige.

For the Saudi's, it's all part of the future survival of their nation after their oil revenues dry up. Different gravy imo...

I wouldn’t blame him, but then again how much can you spend? Also I think Kev is a very grounded guy and will stay as long as Pep does

I welcome any relevant information on what follows. I have heard that there is an all-party group of MPs, all of whom are supporters of various clubs but are primarily lovers of football, who are most concerned with the state of the game in England and, in particular, the "undue influence" exerted by certain clubs. I am led to believe they see City as a model - debt free, concerned with the quality of experience of match going fans and heavily involved with the regeneration of the local (and wider) area. Some of the information in favour of the independent regulator stresses the need for investment which seems to threaten direct confrontation with the PL and UEFA. Is anyone aware of the existence and/or composition of such a group? And are these the people Parry is to meet? If so he could be in for a rough ride!

Hopefully it’s here to stay. Saudi is a place for 30 somethings to visit for a final pay day.

Players might enjoy the initial few months, and then the novelty will wear off. Jordon Henderson is a prime example of this

There’s a lot of noise in the media re FFP this last week or so which appears to be part of a concerted strategy. It may be something that the UK Competition Regulators can’t ignore as the noise becomes louder. They could open an investigation into the anti competitive nature of FFP without the need for any club to mount a legal challenge against FFP.

Worth keeping an eye on.

Yep football with very rich owners can transform the area for the locals the area and have give a positive vibe all through the town! Just look at Newcastle now the fans there been slipping since the new owner came in!

Watched a YouTube video on Grimsby how it's the poorest part of the country average wage is the lowest at just 22k a year!

Now just think what a rich owner would do the that place and redevelop the area bring jobs a positive vibe to the area even a rich American! Look at Wrexham for the positive vibe there!

Feel we should welcome any rich owners who are willing to spend big on the club and the area!

Trouble is their ground, Blundell Park is in Cleethorpes. But seriously I agree with you. I saw that video last week and if you forgive the pun, it was Grim!

Yes, I would.

I want another 3 seasons out of the daft haired ****.

No chance , if he wants someone to take him to the airport and carry his bags i will do it for £2m + fuel and car park another £1m
Its only money :)
I’d up it a bit. You won’t get much change out of £1m if you’re parking at the airport…….
