The British Monarchy

I have spoken to the nature of the public trust that the RF is meant to maintain (or degrade) elsewhere in the thread, so I will refrain from repeating that treatise. @Plays By Sense Of Smell does an exceptional job speaking to it in his reply to your question.

I will say, I do not wish to “cancel” the monarchy because I do not like this “episode”. As I said in another post, for me, this is simply another in an infinitely long list of examples as to why the monarchy should be absolished.

Ultimately, either the RF (and their decisions and actions) matter or they don’t.

If they don’t matter, then their only function is to leech off resources from the nation that could be used to help mamy that are struggling to stay afloat right now.

If they do matter, then this bizarre, increasingly shambolic situation is important in the context of their function, which is primarily maintaining public trust in the governance and stability of the nation.

As you say, one cannot have it both ways, in which the RF matter but this situation does not.

I am not being impolite, to either you or @Plays By Sense Of Smell , by not replying further. I simply don't care enough, and 3 posts on a topic I don't care that much about is already too many.

I get what you are both saying. I would say that is true. Depending, entirely how much, if at all, you care. I don't (I am not anti nor pro monarchy) so it doesn't mean that to me, but I get and respect that it might to others.

Still think it is an over exaggeration of largly insignificant things, and generated predominantly by a public need to fill headline space. I don't read any more into it beyond that.

What I do find a bit odd is those usually arguing apathy for the royal family suddenly having strong views. Sorry for bracketing you in that as you highlight above, it was meant to be more genearal than that.

Beyond that, I really have nothing else meaningful to say on it, with no disrespect at all to either of you. That isn't even an 'agree to disagree' get-out, I don't even particularly disagree. I'm just avoding myself rambling on.

Fair enough.

Let’s hope the entire thing proves to be indeed an unnecessary exaggeration. Though, I still think the handling of the public’s reaction, regardless if that itself has been sensible, shows rank incompetence and a concerning disconnect from the realities of the present state of the nation.

Once again the British press don’t care who they hurt along the way as long as they protect the monarchy (which is ironic as they are doing a really good job of making people dislike them). Anyway here’s the photographer calling out their dangerous ‘journalism’

Good for him

They’ve even lost Piers Morgan… eek

So what we saying?

Wills has got his pegging concubine Hanbury up the duff again and it has sent Kate into a spiral and is having a nervous breakdown.

Old baldys got 5 kids now then

Is this a shakespeare play?

the plot(all alledged btw by social media conspiracies and no way the opinion of myself)

Prince has and affair, has an ilegitimate older heir.
Princess Wife complies (though draws the line at strap ons)
The affair continues and another illegitimate heir cocieved.
Enter stage left Thomas Kingston who either is seduced by the now fed up princess and and ends up knocking her up or he helped her run away.
Either way the prince has him murdered and the pregnat princess forced to have an abortion.
She has since absconded from the palace and is in hiding or in a coma, or dead, or perfectly fine.

Now the silly rumours are all done the batshit alien lizard ones can start ;-)

And that's just one of them. Fucking internet and social media is filled with all sorts of wild conspicies, people running entire channels on it, unsubstantiated claims as fact, with some backing music to make it all the more legitimate sounding. The national media picking them out to report, people lapping it all up, even bloody piers morgan is at it. Yet the issue here is public trust has been eroded by a bit of photo tarting up in an age when every phone comes with crude but easy to use enhancing software.

And could all be nipped in the bud if they came out either him or her and made a live statement of the truth.

This royal secrects guff is for a century gone by, in the modern media age they cannot hide

True. But on the other hand, why? Just to satisfy the internet demand for instantaneous answers any time a bunch of people fancy it? Not the best example to set.

You know who I haven't seen or heard from in a while? Arsenne Wenger. I demand to know where he is and what he's up to, and I'll decide if it passes the online smell test. #arsennegieusawave.

They have said they will update people on her recovery when it is right. The public can wait.
