Favourite curry

As a recent convert to Biryani on the recommendation of a mate, I have so far had two, both were chicken tikka biryani with a madras sauce. A liked them a lot.

Are you supposed to have it this way or have I bastardised the dish? Normal chicken biryani with the standard vegetable curry(?) side does not seem particularly interesting to my palette which would normally go for a vindaloo, madras or samber.

Used to like the hot ones but the older I get, the less I can tolerate the heat. I go for taste now, with my current favourite king prawn tikka balti with coriander naan and rice. With a mixed grill before hand of course.

I need to try a few more .. my goto is a boring chicken Tikka Rogan Josh but I ask for it Madras hot

Vegetable Pilau and some plain Naan

I’ve recently started having a go at the Biryani with a madras sauce on the side..

I've never liked Indian food. Been to restaurants and just ended up eating chips :D
However, I cannot go more than 7 days without half chips, half rice and beef curry from the Chinese chippy down the road.

Same for me along with achari and karahi.

Spicy, but with fresh veg and spices.
A good karahi is very tasty. Not a popular curry but one of my favourites as it's medium strength. I go as hot as a madras but can't handle a vindaloo because the last one I tried I had tears in my eyes, I still managed to eat the chicken though.

I find curries in general aren’t as hot as they used to be. I still prefer madras-vindaloo spice level, but not at the expense of other flavourings.

I’d rather have a rogan Josh to a madras.

I really enjoy battling the hot spices and chilli heat but I sometimes struggle to eat a madras, depends where it's from. I'd like to try a phall but I know I'd have no chance of eating it, hats off to those who can though.

I'm finding that but I put it down to old age, having a gob full of falsies and loosing my sense of smell and taste during covid.

The hotter, the better.
