This thread is a doozy so far.
where's the "thread Police"? Don't you know this forum is about Labour? I go away for a day and it's descended into train fares!!!!!!!!!Super off-peak single £64.30 each way, any train Sunday. Any train back from York from 1002 onwards - not valid via London so has to be change at Stevenage.
At some times it's cheaper via Ely.

Certainly put a shocked expression on Williams face…….
Labour under Great British Railways will fix fares (including companies hiding cheaper fares).where's the "thread Police"? Don't you know this forum is about Labour? I go away for a day and it's descended into train fares!!!!!!!!!
They need to simplify the fares and fuck off exterior companies such as Trainline from selling them, as they take profit outside the industry and often issue wrong tickets that are non refundable and make passengers pay again. Also non specific TOC only tickets is another scam.Labour under Great British Railways will fix fares (including companies hiding cheaper fares).

Companies keep all the profits from that rather than it's paid into the collective revenue pot and split. They deliberately over subscribe them to profit over investing in more rolling stock to provide the service people have paid for.
I feel embarrassed when I see passengers who've quite rightly purchased the cheapest tickets which may mean having to wait at a station for 4 hours for their ticket to be valid for the next part of their journey.
For example Nottingham to Liverpool for £8.
Split ticket.
Catch 1147 to Sheffield (Which goes to Liverpool)
Change Sheffield to catch 1540 to Liverpool to complete the journey.
Some of my colleagues will happily charge them the standard open single to stay on the train, which is allowed under the national conditions of carriage.
I would like the new government to improve the deal for passengers.
Passenger numbers are now higher than pre COVID, yet companies won't cater accordingly to profit.
And energy. The promised free market competition has actually become a set of cartels overseen by toothless regulation. The taxpayer still seems to underwrite and bail out any risk - might as well be nationalised.Just renationalise the f@cking lot....its been yet another Tory Privatisation disaster .... same for water.

In name only. All main sectors of the economy growing.
No more NHS/Doctors strikes.
No train strikes.
Improvements to workers rights.
very early days, but a cracking start.
In name only.
Bill wont be enacted for 2 years and the corporates in the party are watering down the zero hour contract ban.
Businesses have had too much "preparation time" to take away employee rights for 14 years and continue to exploit workers without punishment.I don't mind that, not worth implementing and rushing big changes in so quickly. gives businesses preparation time themselves.
Is this the right place to post this?

Why would businesses want to exploit employees like you state above. There is a lack of good employee's out there and has been for several years, businesses are doing everything they can to attract and keep staff.Businesses have had too much "preparation time" to take away employee rights for 14 years and continue to exploit workers without punishment.
If labour want to "make work pay" as they say, then businesses must be prepared to pay proper living wages with real workers protections over increasing profits/dividends for their stakeholders.
Most decent employers are looking forward to new regulations, it’s the dodgy ones who are against them. Why would businesses want to exploit employees like you state above. There is a lack of good employee's out there and has been for several years, businesses are doing everything they can to attract and keep staff.
I dont think you fully understand the situation. It's not all big bad employers and good employees.
I can only speak from my perspective from the industries I've been in. They have all been profit driven with platitudes about looking after staff and not following through. Dismissing staff rather than supporting them. Why would businesses want to exploit employees like you state above.
