PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Debt is permitted as a means of raising capital for investment in all sectors of the economy. It may run into difficulties if it were part of a series of regulations to guarantee sustainability, but "the cartel" would certainly vote against any restrictions on debt. That in turn may lead to action from clubs who would question why debt was allowed but owner investment was limited quite severely. So, difficulty passing the rules and legal wrangles if they did get passed. The problem is that nearly everyone sees the need for regulation but none can agree on those measures which are required.
It's this simple... Any debt where the repayment is over ⅓ of a clubs annual turnover CAN'T be levied against clubs, & MUST be levied PERSONALLY against the club's ownership.

The thought of bailiffs taking off the door to an owner's mansion, will certainly protect clubs by ending profligate spending, & reckless risk taking, without stunting responsible owner investment.

When the smog clears, I honestly believe this is the logical place where football governance will end up, whether the cartel clubs like it or not.

just think about that for a minute
who receives the VAT?
Who pays for the supplies to the LA schools?
the answer to both is the government, charging vat to LA school supplies just adds admin fees with no benefit to anyone
The UK taxpayer pays for supplies to schools

Schools do get charged VAT by suppliers mate, but they claim it back

Sure the Glazers will be only too happy to go along with it.

It’s an old story. You would expect this to happen as a matter of routine. Khaldoon runs one of the Abu Dhabi Sovereign Wealth Funds which invests hundreds of millions in the UK. The Embassy will always be working on trade deals and the 115 case could damage relations. Of course the Embassy would be interested. This is what Embassies do. It is a desperate story by Ziegler. I wonder who prompted this story and what was their motive.
Building the narrative that we're guilty, but were let off due to government pressure...

It’s a classic Ziegler, signifying nothing. Did he expect our gov simply to ignore the situation while not knowing the attitude of UAE on whom we currently rely for large inward investment?

It also, artfully avoids mentioning exactly who was asked what, thus leaving it open for people to infer that the government and foreign office were asking for updates from the Commission itself. No one needed to "insist" that the IC process is independent, there is nothing whatsoever in the emails that remotely suggests that it isn't, although that is clearly what Ziegler wants his readers to infer.

interesting:

22 Sept 2023 — The British government has refused to disclose information about Foreign Office correspondence relating to Manchester City's charges for 115 alleged breaches

Next week's exclusive from Zeigler will be that Ben Thatcher has been banned for twatting Pedro Mendez

I think that is probably spot-on. Someone has whispered in Zeigler's ear and he is happy to recyle the old story because there is nothing else to report. The narrative has been twisted from day one and it all smacks of desperation.

I don't want to put two and two together and get five, but it would be nice if someone has whispered in his ear because they know the PL has conspicuously failed to land their case.
