The likelyhood is that Starmer won't get the assurances we want from Trump, but as long as he calls him out for all the bullshit spouted about Ukraine and Zelensky, that will do.
Hopefully with the caveat that if he doesn't fully back Ukraine, Charlie will tell him to fuck offApparently the PM has just given Trump an invitation from the King for a State visit. Nice move by the PM. Trump will lap that up.
All 3 of them can fuck right off.Apparently the PM has just given Trump an invitation from the King for a State visit. Nice move by the PM. Trump will lap that up.
He won’t. We now have to suffer him on a state visit too!The likelyhood is that Starmer won't get the assurances we want from Trump, but as long as he calls him out for all the bullshit spouted about Ukraine and Zelensky, that will do.
No Labour or Tory government will meaningfully oppose or lock horns with a US government, whether it's a Democrat or a Republican one. That's not a good thing but Starmer certainly isn't going to be the one that changes that.I'm hoping Starmer the charmer will get Trump on side, and get the best deal for the UK and Ukraine. That's what it's all about. If he comes away with nothing then it's clearly time to reboot our relationship with this US administration.
They'll be holding hands next.Heard on the radio that Starmer couldn’t have had a better start with Trump, even got him to confirm a US backstop in the form of American workers in Ukraine.
Nice start, Trump seems to love anything ‘Old Blighty’.
Trump probably would be open to having some sort of security presence in Ukraine but only to guard the minerals he's seeking and not to protect Ukraine or as part of a "backstop"Heard on the radio that Starmer couldn’t have had a better start with Trump, even got him to confirm a US backstop in the form of American workers in Ukraine.

I agree, but what happens today dictates on what we will have to contend with as regards tariffs and support for Ukraine. Alot is at stake. No Labour or Tory government will meaningfully oppose or lock horns with a US government, whether it's a Democrat or a Republican one. That's not a good thing but Starmer certainly isn't going to be the one that changes that.
Then reaching out ?They'll be holding hands next.
Trump humming the words to ‘Kumbaya, My Lord’.They'll be holding hands next.
Trump actually stated that the US in Ukraine would be a sort of backstop as nobody would dare to try anything against US citizens.Trump probably would be open to having some sort of security presence in Ukraine but only to guard the minerals he's seeking and not to protect Ukraine or as part of a "backstop"
Do people honestly think Trump is going do a complete U-turn on Starmer and Labour after things like party members travelling to Virginia to campaign for Harris during the US election?
Will US workers always be in Ukraine I.e. is it an open ended agreement?Trump actually stated that the US in Ukraine would be a sort of backstop as nobody would dare to try anything against US citizens.
I’m not saying it will go either way, just that Trump has already veered from his explicit stance of no backstop. Will US workers always be in Ukraine I.e. is it an open ended agreement?
