PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

They’d (if the rumour is even true) want big Steve on purely because he’s good tv. He speaks his mind and is confident doing it.

You’re overthinking it @Coatigan
I'm prepared to go on and offer the voice of reason.

Do you think they'll fly me Business Class from Jumeirah and put me oop in a 5* hotel at licence feepayers expense ?

I'll use my alternative ID.......SlimeBall StoneWall, that should cut the mustard !!

Some months ago I got absolutely slaughtered on here because the view you articulated in the above posts was close to the view I was putting forward.

Image rights payments are far from clear cut. It used to be that you could divert a set % of overall package to IR now it’s more to do with proven worth.

Several/ most big players in English football have agreed settlements with HMRC I believe a couple more are still to.

The demise of Portsmouth exposed warts and all the boundaries that were not only being pushed but trampled over by clubs diverting payments from standard PAYE to entities that were related to players. The football creditor rule was challenged by HMRC following Portsmouths insolvency event but to put it mildly HMRC had its arse kicked.

As you say that there is little put in the public domain concerning the details of these minor charges, because that’s what they are, so that vacuum has been filed by people joining the dots.

As I have pointed out I have been involved in many a football club investigation so nothing surprises me.

From company cars being provided to the children to a wife working for a non trading company and being paid tens of thousands a year. To children’s education fees being paid to a players of shore company on behalf of his father scouting in Africa when the father was dead.

None of us have a clue the strength of case the PL has put forward.
How do YOU know that?

I’d say zero chance anyone in the media knows the verdict beyond a steer of confidence from either side, which really tells us very little.

This is arguably the biggest story in Premier League history - no media outlet is sitting on that if they have a concrete view of the decision.
No way they will have the decision well in advance from three judges. The parties will get some steer on timescales for sure. Both sides may get the broad decision perhaps 24 hours in advance of a public statement. Sometimes over a weekend before a Monday release. The public reputational side of this is crucial and so are the comms.

That sounds logical. I was just listening to my gut, though I would argue a ruling in City's favour is not what the media want to hear and any delay in announcing it gives them a stay of execution to milk the last drop of anti-City sentiment out of the old paradigm before they revise their narrative. They have all the future to tell us about the outcome.

The only thing media outlets will care about right now is 1) being first to break this story 2) having everything in place to produce as much content as possible in the 24 hours following the announcement

Ok.

The BBC are inviting resolute blues to comment on the verdict, to show them celebrating and feeling vindicated. Aye, sure, ok.

It's probably part of that series of podcasts about City and the allegations. They did say they would be airing more after the release of the award. I imagine they are just getting their ducks in a row.

The outcome will be released on the ides of March. Plenty of backstabbing.

I blame the players and pep!

Only 1 game per week! Least we had the crap football to watch and worry over. Now the day of reckoning is upon us and @Coatigan is climbing the walls.

Anyway to complain directly to the playing staff? -:)

I cant see the BBC, ITV, Sky, all knowing what the verdict is when no one else does, and without leaking it! This is just getting prepared for whatever happens.

It would be good for our youtubers to be prepared for any narrative they push forward. IE If there is a charge of non cooperation the media will be keen to press home how guilty we are. The media companies will have had their legal staff pouring over all the details and will highlight something poisonous. I’d even say it would be good for our owners to brief the youtubers and podcasters we have beforehand even to make sure we KNOW what the outcome is. (All academical if we have totally lost the case though.

The APT stuff and them claiming a victory really showed their true colours. Twats.

I don’t think the club should be briefing our fans, that could play out poorly.

However, we will have a statement prepared (as we will have the verdict before the public), so this will give a starting point.

By the time your watching it most people’s minds are made up anyway.

We know the result should be fairly soon, so it’s no wonder BBC, Sky etc do.

I actually expected it to be a longer time, everything considered.

If that is true, that doesn't sound good at all. The first bit of rumour in a long time that has had me feeling momentarily worried.
I read it merely that the Beeb and ITV have been briefed that a verdict is imminent, not what the verdict is. I cannot imagine the verdict has been shared with any external party tbh, for the very real concern that it would surely leak. And, as far as I am aware, it hasn't leaked. All we are getting is speculation.
