Bah will be loaned again, raw as hell. Reis is a weird one, pep is reported to want to try and make a #6 out of him in the long term so he'll stick around buy without game time in any serious way. Khus i expect will be the RCB backup.

Could see Akanji stay as backup RB, depending on outgoings. and the one FB forward formation, one makes a back 3.

Most likely a bollocks story tbh.

Stones was tremendous and the best defender in the world that year. So not undervaluing him.

What Josko has done this season is tremendous. Having a bunch of immobile pensioners in front of him, an out of position youngster as an lb, Dias out of form all other defenders injured a makeshift rightback. He has stood up and dragged us to the 3rd placd.

Stones had the best defensive right back next to him, two or three elite cb partners and the worlds best player infront or next to him. It makes it easier to shine.

I think we'll go with
Khusanov Dias Gvardiol Akanji as CBs
Ries as someone mentioned could cover midfield too.
So plenty there but this is dependent on getting 2 first choice fullbacks in, otherwise we'll be overplaying Gvardiol and Akanji again leading to injuries etc

An alternative way to look at this, buy Al Nouri for LWB, promote McFarlane to LB, Ake, Gvardiol as LCB, Dias, Branthwaite, CB, Stones, Akanji, RCB, Nunes RWB, Khusanov RB, with Bah and Ries playing in the U21 where they will be available for the first team, and of course anyone who does not feel like they will get game time, with this new very physical coach, being allowed to leave.

Stones is no good out injured though, and he was injured more than he was fit last season. He's 31 now and time to offload him I think.
 
How is this thread still open? This is never happening. Not even any interest from us whatsoever apart from last year for a bit

Agreed, I really like him though, classy player, reminds me of a younger version of Stones but we'd have to ship out at least 2 CB's (Ake and Stones) Reis for game time would probably need a loan, and he wouldn't come cheap, not sure the budget can stretch that far.
 
So how this works tactically?

Jarrad also is injury prone

I think Guehi or promoting Callum Doyle are better option

Not worth the (hype) money when we have just bought a handful of good defenders and have the PL2 POTY at our club, who is a defender, who has done fine in very limited time he’s been given.
 
Swap him for Sones he would be better in 40 /60 games a season as Stones dosnt bother much after 20 games a season ;+)

No we don’t but it wouldn’t be a real summer if we weren’t somehow talking or linked to a CB

I understand there is little chance, it is a logical choice, Bah, Ries and McFarlane in the under 21`s where they are eligible to play, should the need arise. With Kushanov i see Savic a good CB just not good enough for the PL, or Reece James Chelsea`s captain, one thing is for sure he is a better defender than all the RB`s linked to us, and a better RB than all the LB`s we used last season.
