Running thread

Just ambled around cala dor in the early 24 degree heat, ended up being a bit more of a sightseeing exercise as opposed to a focused run

Managed just over 5k before calling it a day, don't recall having sweated that much before in my life!

Over here until Monday so will try and get out again, but I do feel a little less guilty about lieing on a sun lounger all day
Landed back into Manchester yesterday, and looking forward to getting back onto the tarmac today.

Didn't manage to get out running as much as I'd envisaged whilst I was away, it was just so brutally hot even at 7am!

Managed a 5k down to the marina which was nice, and another 5k on the treadmill, so at least kept myself moving in some capacity.

One thing I did take from it, is that treadmill running just isn't for me at all, hated every minute of it and couldn't stop just staring at the distance as it slowly crept up!

Signed up to Park Run ages ago but still haven't done Warrington. Is it any good?

I've got caught up in it a few times running down the path by the Ship Canal. feels a bit congested to me.
The start is usually busy but after the mini lap which is a couple of minutes it evens itself out. The closer you get to the front the less congested it is.

Flat course and mainly on paths, other than a small section on grass.

I like it as it’s predominantly out, loop round and return back. No fast runners come up behind as they do on some of the other parkruns. The lead runners come towards you at Warrington as it’s out and back.

Ah the post holiday slog!

Got back Monday, and I wouldn't even say I drank a lot of alcohol, or ate too badly, but christ it's almost as if my legs have forgotten what they are meant to do!

10k on both Tuesday and just now, only at a nice pace, but it's taken me half way round to actually get my legs going!

May just take a few days rest now, and then do a very comfortable 5k on Sunday.

Who'd have thought lying on a sun lounger for a week would have that much impact!!

It’s the flying mate that does it.

Alright Blues, hope you're all doing well.

I'm doing a fundraiser for a little six year old lad called Tommy, who's currently fighting cancer for the third time in his short life. We're trying to raise £300,000 to get him onto a clinical trial in America that could genuinely save his life.

My part? I’ve been running at least 5K every single day in July. We’re on Day 25 now, and I’ve clocked up 175km so far. Safe to say, my knees are in bits — but there’s only a few days left and I’m pushing through.

If you’re in a position to donate, I’d be massively grateful. If not, you can still help by following Tommy’s journey on Instagram — liking, sharing, commenting — anything to help spread the word.

Tommy will be walking out with the team at the Spurs game (and fingers crossed, alongside his hero Phil Foden). Let’s get behind him.

Chucked a few quid mate. My daughter has an inoperable brain tumour so I feel your pain. Hopefully he can get the treatment that he needs.

As Inchy said, it's probably the flight that's taken it out of you. Stretches sounds like a good plan. Maybe go for some walks as well?

So I've had 9 weeks of training for the Great North Run and the event seems very close now. I've also started running Hadrian's Wall but I've only done 6 miles of it so far! I was doing really well but I had to stop cos my daughter had just had her chemo and had a bit of a bad reaction so that took priority.

Here's week 9 for my legion of dedicated fans out there...

Did my first ever Parkrun today. Peel Park, Salford. Fourth 5km of the year! I’m on a sixty day training mission including running and cycling in readiness for our annual road cycling trip to Spain in October.
Posted a Parkrun time of 30:20 but on 5km it was 29:41. Not bad for a FOC of 57. Aiming for 26 mins by October

You must of been just in front of me. My daughter finished 30.21 so must have been directly following you.

Think it was partly the post holiday blues, where I couldn't be bothered doing anything!

Got back out again this afternoon for a 5k, and felt much better, so fingers crossed its onwards and upwards!
