MOST will not have had the pleasure of the old scoreboard end.
I had to wear shorts even on the coldest February days, sat on a freezing concrete wall.
When we moved to the Platt lane, it was luxury to sit on a shiny plank, despite the odd arse splinter.
Probably why the Pep stand seems space age for FOC's like me

In August 1965 when I told my dad I didn't want to go with him anymore and was going to the games with my mates we stood at the front against the wall right in the corner where the scoreboard end joined the main stand

This was in the old second division and for those who don't know we had 3 attendances over 40k and 2 at 34k. In the FA cup we had a 37k, 52k, 56k and a 63k. No fans my arse.

It turned out to be the season of change, the first seeds of what was to come.
I had started the season before at our lowest ebb really. As a 5 yr i didnt care, the smell of linament was like a drug.

I get why they need to remove seats at the Pep end, to put the stage in etc but why have they removed those strips of seats at the south stand end. Can anybody shed some light on it for me please.

My guess it will for gantries for lighting etc
