Oh no Stevie G is disappointed, what are we going to do? He also thinks Reheem should "be a man about it and tell the manager what he wants." Does desperately wanting to go to Chelsea to win things, nearly making the move but then doing an about turn because you've shat your pants over death threats from those wonderful Liverpool fans count as being a man?

I'd agree with some of what your saying but Sterling and Ward have reacted to the mistreatment they have received, they have not been pro active on it. Sterling had the BBC interview as Rodgers had made it abundantly clear that he was not signing an improved offer (suggesting without saying it that he is a money grabber). At the end of the day Sterling obviously feels the working relationship with Rodgers has certainly factored in the way he has behaved throughout proceedings. Do you think Stevie G would have been this mistreated by the manager when looking at moving? No. Bottom line is and I hope you'll agree is that Sterling is edging for a move as he is looking in the changing room seeing a declined team to the one of 2 years ago aka without Stevie and Biter. Sterling has the opportunity to play Champions League season in season out with better players than ones at LFC.

Do you really think subject to the abuse he has received that he should go on tour? so he can get booed at all your friendly games? No me neither.

The rest I see from some of your fans is an absolute disgrace I will say some as I'm sure you're all not fucking cretins. Just look at the way we handled the Milner situation to you guys handling this is somewhat complete different scale.

In summary Sterling shouldn't have gone on and done an interview as well as his agent (I'd also agree that yes he is a twat but aren't agents?). Yet I do feel they were pushed into a corner by Liverpool and the media twats most notably John Aldridge because they're bitter and losing a player they do not want to lose.
Your comment about him being booed made me think. We'll see the difference in the class of the 2 sets of fans at the next City v dippers fixture. We'll be aplauding and welcoming back Jimmy Milner while they will be booing and heckling Sterling's every move.

The one fan on here who is speaking sense. I agree with you. Not sure I can say we handled it worse though but each to their own. At least you're not being biased

What you have to understand is that Sterling is a 20 year old kid...let's face it...we have all acted like dicks at that age...couple that with the fact he is a successful footballer and multiply our twattiness as a 20 year old by a thousand

What I can't get my head around is how Liverpool FC have behaved...the club...the fans and the ex players...most of whom are not 20 year old kids but grown adults

When I speak to the few Liverpool fans I know...they say 'He's not worth the money' and 'He's not that good anyway'

Well if he is both of those things...why the fuck are you all making such a fuss about it?

The campaign against him has been nothing short of disgusting...the leak of his telephone number...the racism...the wheeling out of old pros to pretend they know what's best for the kid

I know it sticks in the craw for you lot...and yes...maybe he is coming here for a bit more money...but he's also coming here for a better chance at trophies...surely even you can see that

Like I said...the kid has not covered himself in glory...I just think Liverpool FC could have remained dignified about this instead of turning it into a fucking media circus...It's unnecessary and quite frankly embarrassing

Sterling's agent, and by association Sterling, who must have known what his agent was going to be doing, haven't handled this situation particularly brilliantly. They needed to get the message out there that he wasn't going to be considering new contract offers and was looking to move on, for the sake of his career, and his medal chances, but it certainly could have been done in a more professional, less confrontational, manner. Having said that though, Liverpool's behaviour in all of this has been stunningly poor, and pretty unprofessional too. The club, and the manager, have been actively campaigning against Sterling, and the continuing line of former Liverpool players spouting off character assassinations is quite clearly being orchestrated by Liverpool's media/PR departments in an attempt to improve the clubs image, destroy Sterling's, and apply pressure to City in order to drag more money out of the club. It's getting time for us to play Ex-Liverpool player sweepstakes again. Who will be the next former "great" to voice their, oh so sought after, opinion on Sterling. Steve Harkness? Phil Babb? Neil Ruddock? My money is on Ronny Whelan.

I'll have Glenn Hysen & Gary Gillespie

And Gerrard wanted to dump them just a month after the CL win! At least Sterling is a) Not actually scouse b)not captain c)Leaving them because they are shit, not just money.

The only people who are dragging this out and making it worse are those involved at Liverpool FC, this could and should be dealt with pronto, move on, and get on with Plans for the new season. Hopefully they wisen up and realise this.

Tbh, he's being a naughty boy and should be doing what his employer....and his contract....require. None of that means he can't move, if the clubs and the player come to terms, but his behavior is making this entire potential deal start to stink a bit. And, while I'm at it, he's not looking much like the kind of PERSON I fancy much at City!

All of that said, it really pisses me off when someone pushes a player into the first team, act like he is the second coming, and then say things like "we've made him an excellent offer for a lad his age!" WTF does that even mean? Does it mean "he's our second best player, and possibly our best player some weeks, but because he is only 20, we believe he deserves about 50% less than our top earners who are older. After all, he's just too young to give a top contract to, isn't he?"

Fuck that! We hear all the time.."if he's good enough he's old enough," so "if he's old enough," then pay him what he deserves! What's with the ageism?

Personally, I think anything in excess of about $20-25M smacks of city being bent over by a petulant Liverpool back room not wanting to sell him, and that's THEIR right. Our RIGHT is to tell them to fuck off and get real, which is exactly what I would do. They can have $25M and some add-ons if we win silverware and if he gets X England caps, etc... Other than that, I'd let him, and Liverpool, swing in the wind while they fight about the whole debacle!

The fact of the matter is as well that we got fuck all for Jimmy...ran his contract down as he was entitled to do. The Dippers are getting between £40 and £50 million for Raheem. Fucking backwards.

100% this....^^^

Let's not be held to ransom by a club or a player, we are better, bigger and much more dignified than that.

The deal is £35m plus add ons - take it or leave it and we walk away! Let Liverpool sort out the damage that will be created.

Sterling told the gaffer to his face he doesn't want to play for him. Stevie G should do his research. Obviously jealous because Raheem has the balls to get out of that mickey mouse club when Stevie didn't until he was finished.

Regardless of what any of us 'think' about Sterling's calling in sick, we don't know the medical facts, and very few people should know.
So, for a bunch of ex-Liverpool players to assume he's swinging the lead is just wrong. Many of us may think it, but none of us know it.

It's bordering on libel to suggest on the tv or radio that he's swinging the lead.

I have certainly seen Rodgers and ex-players commenting aplenty about Sterling, but Sterling's own comments have been few and far between and not particularly critical.
Ward's comments haven't been helpful, but they are still dwarfed by those coming out of Liverpool FC and cohorts.

All in all, Ward's and Sterling can't be considered blameless, but the largest contributor to this mess is LFC and co.
The fundamental issue is that Sterling doesn't want to be at Liverpool. It's his right. Nobody likes it when a player of their club doesn't want to play for them, but it happens. The rest of the football world manages to live with such things, Liverpool need to do the same.
