The Derby Post Match Thread

It's wasn't a game to be watched again that's for sure.
Not a classic for sure, but there were elements I enjoyed about it, because it was different to what we do normally. I thought our defending was superb, best in a long time for me, I thought Fernando and Fernandhino were a great shield ahead of them, and put in a huge amount of work, especially Fernandhino who was booked early on, yet carried on like nothing had happened.

Sometimes football has other attractions, I love our normal approach, but its good to see we can do other stuff too.

I thought I was alone in enjoying that aspect of the game, to me it was well managed

We were good up to a point. I'm sure Pellegrini would have been a bit critical of our ball retention on the break. We had a lot of opportunities to break on them but in the 2nd half in particular the ball just kept coming back.

I bloody love Fernandinho. Thank you very much yaya for everything but your not good enough anymore.

Not as a forward he isn't be there again that isn't his position anyway. It was his absence from deep midfield that stopped us keeping the ball and getting going forward.

I think you're exaggerating it, I don't rate them either, but their results all season should tell you they are well organised under vg, and hard to beat, we could have taken bigger risks, I'm glad for once we didn't.
Very disappointed with our poor attempts at going forward and certainly in the first half a couple of indecisions in their box, could have resulted in something better.I don`t normally get this wound up about the Rags, but today I witnessed something my Rag friends have been saying for a while about their team.

Our pass completion was low I think today. Bbc said 72%

they were at home,
they had a chance to go top,
we had no silva and no aguero.

i totally agree with everyone who says united are piss poor,
the most expensive team ever, or whatever the stat is, it doesn't matter,
they decided to kill the game from the off,
not one shot on target at home in the first half.

there's only one reason why this was the worst derby ever and that's their "philosophy"...
bore the oppostion to death and try to nick one while we are asleep.

fuck 'em!

True. His ball playing is amazing. But I just don't trust him anymore. Players just walk off him. He always has had that burst in his game yet I haven't seen it this season. I love yaya and he has been amazing over the years, just think it's 1 season too many.

I was pleased with our first half performance, but second half we lost our composure and gave the ball away too much which allowed them to "try" to attack us. Overall it's a good point for us though.

Must say was terribly dissapointed by sterling today as I have been all season. He is a typically English player.no first touch. I'm hoping for pellegrini to drop him in favour of kele chi just so he knows he's not irreplaceable. Can't see that happening though.

Also bony looks like a panic buy that I think we all knew he was. He's always on his heels doesn't seem to have a striker instinct.

On the plus side though otamendi looked like a boss today .. and vinni as usual, his usual commanding self . Went all suarez on rooneys head which I liked .

The day that we approach a home Derby the negative way that they did would be a very sad day. Decent point for us all the same

I wouldn't trust any rag opinion personally, they want all out attack like we play, but they know they can't do it, and they don't like to be dull and safe, but vg has them doing better result wise than their team probably merits. They'll be happy tonight though, because they know we've had to be more pragmatic due to missing Silva and Aguero, and still they couldn't get a win. We lost 4-2 there last year by being too open, better to be pragmatic, that's 2 points they can't get.

All this "happy clapper" stuff you keeping quoting is more than a bit unfair imho, lots of people were crying out for more pragmatic, and credit vg, he found a way to stop de Bruyne today, and we didn't have many options on the bench for a game of that magnitude.
