Was the ball over the line?

Just watched a re run of game the commentator never mentioned the ball being out in real time only after second replay did they make mention of it

Miles over the line!

If the ball was over the line, which would be marginal at best, the match should be replayed the day after the Ireland v France rematch following the Thierry Henry handball.

The definitive angle would be directly overhead, but that doesn't seem to be an option. The balance of probability would suggest that the ball was over the line but, oddly enough, I didn't lose that much sleep over it last night. Ho hum.

For the umpteenth time, you do NOT need to be overhead to get the definitive view. ANY view directly along the line gives you the same view as to whether the ball is over or not. How high up you view from makes NO difference to what you see.

We have a clear and definitive view along the line and the ball is definitively out, end of debate. Their is no room for argument here - no "balance of probability" etc. As a statement of incontrovertible fact, the ball went out.

In the Liverpool v Stoke match on Tuesday night, about 2-3 mins from the end of extra time, a Stoke player chased a ball that rolled right up the middle of the line in front of the dugout. The player kept the ball in play but Liverpool protested that it went out and the ref blew for a throw-in. I thought I was seeing things that I rewound it back and watched it a few times, the ball wasn't even half out yet was given as. If a linesman who was feet away from it can give a blatantly wrong decision then he sure as well can give a dubious one. So fuck Everton, fuck Sky and fuck the cunting media. City players hacked over the two legs and nothing done about it, isn't karma a bitch Martinez?

I see this shit all the time in football. Nearly every week I see the whistle blown when the ball has not crossed the line. People don't seem to get that the WHOLE of the ball has to have crossed the WHOLE of the line. People seem to look at the parts of the ball that are touching the grass, but the ball is significantly wider than that. I keep looking at it, and apart from my obvious bias, I'm convinced that the whole ball did not cross the whole of the line.

Oh dear.

It did, as the umpteen photos posted clearly show. The whole ball was clearly beyond all of the line.

Calm down. I was simply offering an opInion. Or is that not allowed now?

So it was!
Just like Aguero was fouled before their goal, we were denied a pen in the first leg and one of their goals was offside.
Why is nobody in the media recognising that we battered the blue dippers last night.
I do wonder....actually I don't.
Well done to Pellers for giving those bastards on SlyTV an earful when he was asked to comment on it last night. Reminded me a bit of a Buzzer rant!

For my sins, I went over to the match day thread on Toffee Talk. You can imagine it's full of calm, measured analysis.

I loved this....

"The 'goal' they scored which went out of play will go down in history!"

You have to laugh.

The thinking Evertonian! As opposed to the rest, presumably.

In the spirit of fair play we the fans should tell the club that we refuse to acknowledge the win due to the fact that the three goals we scored should not have counted.
Further we want the club to step aside and allow Everton to play in the final instead of us as it is their rightful place not ours.
We should also tell the club that we will not be buying Wembley tickets as a) a sign of protest about the immoral victory and b) the tickets belong to the best fans in the league.

or we could just tell the Scousers, $ky, the media in general to fuck off.

Chippy boy, I disagree. I was convinced the ball was out but did an experiment tonight (yes that's sad) which made me very doubtful. I placed a ball so that from an overhead view a tiny bit of the ball was not accross a line i.e. in play under the rules. I was amazed that from every angle it looked out and from most, well out. It was only the directly overhead angle that you could see it was in.
