Pep: 'The players deserve a full stadium, we need our fans!'

I get people like to avoid the queues, but stay to the end and I just use it as an excuse to go and have a pint at Summerbees! :)

I know there are traffic problems, but for the love of God it appears like it's a choreographed 80 minute walk out.

Yeah it does at times. Never understood it. Think I've left early about 3 times in over 30 years of watching the blues!

The emptiad tag is akin to the MMR jab causing autism, so ingrained into the public psyche than even against all the evidence to the contrary people still believe it. This unconscious process has now fed into pro city commentors, who over analyse ever aspect of our fan base turning 1 empty seat into 100 and a lull In singing into a library.
Cracking atmosphere yesterday, I know that and you know that, that's all that matters.

I think there's a lot of people who make the decision to leave at 80 mins, and again at 85 mins - regardless of what's going on. I'm down in 111, and looking right I can see the whole of the bottom tier. I looked across on 80 mins yesterday and the walkways are full of people just walking out, not even looking back to the pitch. It's a strange thing, and I don't think it's anything that will change as it's ingrained. The club need to do something about the traffic around the stadium to try and put a stop to it.

Mind you, it is probably the same at all grounds, as everyone's in a rush nowadays.

People talking about others leaving early....

The same ones are also coming in way after the teams have come out and are missing 10 minutes at the start as well.

And that's what it's all about opinions, and many of us see it different. If you choose to chant City and the rest of us opt to boo I see no issue with that as its a personal preference. What I don't agree with is where you see a difference between booing and chanting City. Whichever one you choose, the underlying reason for drowning out the UEFA/G14 'Theme Tune' is to voice our derision toward them for their crooked treatment of us wouldn't you agree?

You mentioned what Pep wanted, but from looking at Pep's interview he was quite clear he wanted the disruption stopped altogether not replace with another form of disruption. Again I totally disagree that not booing for 30 seconds and then balling our lungs out for 90 minutes in support of our team is going to give our team any more of an advantage than if we booed for 30 seconds first would you agree with that?

Also are you making a clear distinction between booing for 3 seconds as opposed to chanting City for 30 seconds?

Are you saying one is more of an advantage to our players and the other slightly disadvantages them?

Would you agree that Pep wants neither disruption?

If you have used Pep's request for us to desist from the disruptions altogether as an example for us to stop booing, why have you suggested we replace it with chanting City? Is this also not against Pep's wishes?

I agree that most City fans see the PL as the priority as the group stages of the CL generally throw up the same ole teams year after year or teams who don't capture the imagination of our loyal but hard pressed support. With this being the case for most fans for the group stages in the CL as I see it, would you agree we are no different to other club's supporters?

Also do you agree or disagree that the majority of our small indifference toward the CL is based on our ruthless treatment at the hands of UEFA/G14 rather than because we're just not that arsed about the competition?

No, I don't agree that Pep will have a problem with people chanting City or singing over the anthem. I think it supports the team & is positive. Booing is a negative & Pep doesn't like it.

As in different most clubs supporters, I have no idea, I'm mainly concerned about the number who could go & don't bother to at City & I think there are loads in that catagory. I think it would be full if we played these games 10 years ago, yet now we have bigger support, we can't fill it. But we fill it v Bournemouth & people are buying up their returned tickets. I think Sunderland would have a full house. We are not that arsed & Pep senses it.

I think our half arsed attitude to the competition, caused by our hatred of the cartel & of UEFA does nothing to encourage fans to come. It makes it easy to stay away. We can't change how we feel about them but I think starting the match with a round of booing is not the best way to improve our own situation, gets the evening off on the wrong note & Pep is right.

The problem as I see it, is that our legitimate grievence about UEFA is causing an apathy about the competition & we, as fans, need to give 100% in the competition if we are to compete seriously in it.

A different outlook from the kickoff would help bring that about imo & Pep, who is a genius, has immediately spotted the problem, as he does.

So I'm backing him.

I think the time has come for the club to start bundling Champions League group games into the price of the season ticket so the 299 ticket becomes £380 ??

Slightly off topic, but I thought it was excellent that yesterday's crowd numbered 54,335. This only 30 or so less than the highest so far this season (against Sunderland)

I say this was excellent because Bournemouth returned all the seats in blocks 313 and 314 very late, and they only went on sale to City fans at around 2pm Thursday.

I dare say shifting these seats in short time does the case for the North Stand expansion no harm at all.

Everybody knows that.

The middle aged cow impersonaters society have told me.

Why have you got a fixation about middle aged men booing ? My son is 30, hardly middle aged and he booes just as loudly as me. Plenty of youngsters around me also boo but don't worry I will tell them to wait until they are older befoe they have the audacity to upset Mr Gill.

They should not open the exit gates until the final whistle or at least once 90 minutes are up. Make them queue through the exit turnstiles if they leave any earlier. That might stop or reduce the numbers leaving early.

Poetic license.

Mr Gill doesn't care. He would if we got together & started a campaign to bring his dealings out of the shadows. But we don't care enough to do that, so we boo instead, to make ourselves feel better as we watch them shaft us.

Again there's a lot of 'I think' in there & Pep was pretty categorical that he wanted the disturbance stopped not substituted with something else.... Unless you categorically know different? Can you clarify if your 'I think' is just your opinion or have you had word directly/indirectly from Pep he wouldn't mind us substituting our boos with chanting City or singing Blue Moon etc.

Supporting our team is not a disturbance.

I think it would be better & much louder anyhow, even if Pep hadn't said anything.

Wow, you really have taken Pellegrinis sacking to heart haven't you. I imagine him bombing Hart out hasn't softened your stance either.

Not sure what you mean about me taking Mr Pellegrini's 'sacking to heart'? Did I mention him? I support Manchester City; managers & players come & go, Manchester City is the constant. If they can't cope with my booing the 'anthem' tough is what I am saying. Ok?

To slow down the 80 minute exodus, instead of throwing the gates open to let people out the club should make the early darters leave through a turnstyle, just the one, until the final whistle has gone. This will necessitate leavers having to queue to get out. The club could say it was a safety issue to stop people getting in unchecked by security when they throw the gates open towards the end of the game.
On reflection this will not work as they will just leave even earlier to avoid the queue at the turn style. As you were.
