Winning free kicks has only been important since grealish signed for us, also since he signed goals and assists don't matter. Strange.

Of all the free kicks he has won for us at city how many have resulted in a goal? Let's start with 1 from yesterday and how many others?
Winning free kicks isn’t important, nor are assists, goals, key passes (3 for Grealish yesterday, only bettered by KDB with 4), or any other stat, other than points won at full time.

Pep obviously sees something good in his contribution, or otherwise there’s no way he would be anywhere near a starting XI. I suspect if we played a different way, and Grealish was in a different position he’d make a more obvious contribution. But we don’t, and he still plays a part in the team that the manager must be satisfied with.

That Grealish is the guy who provides the assist to the assist, or draws defenders away for others to benefit doesn’t show up in the record books but the titles the team wins do, so I’m happy enough with that.

It's no coincidence that 'stats' rhymes with 'twats'.

Only the nerdiest of fans care about anything other than goals and points. It's a team game. Whoever thr player is, if they've played a part they've done their job. If the coach thinks they played badly they may consider changes for the next game.

Watch and enjoy, don't get hung up on who did what.

Having a striker who doesn't score goals? Wouldn't just be me who would be pissed off with that.

I'll let you get back to your Sunday beers and being a condescending ****. 'okay luv?'
You’d be pissed off if we won every game?

Who the fuck do you support luv?

And don’t be so uncouth. It’s red wine whilst cooking Sunday dinner luv

He doesn’t slow the play down any more or any less than any of our other front 6.
He retains the ball and allows others to get into shape to join in. It can be infuriating at times but he’s not the only player guilty of it which is why I’m convinced it’s a tactic Pep is happy with. Sure, it’s not flamboyant or sexy to watch but there’s a method in the madness and it’s seen us sitting pretty in the league and CL so other than pop up with the odd goal and assist here and there I fail to see why his performances deserve the scrutiny they get and if it’s down to fee then basically tough shit. It’s not a fair stick to beat him with.
It's absolutely what Pep asks him to do. Pep has made it clear that he doesn't want 'basketball' games, where we take chances on a break, lose the ball and it ends up back down the other end.

Unless a break is overwhelmingly in our favour, Pep would clearly rather get everyone reset and back in control. The plan is to create chances, but when they break down, be in a position to retake control almost immediately, rather than let the opposition create anything.

Grealish is basically the logical endpoint to Pep putting Gundogan on the wing against Liverpool that one time.

Pep wants total control in all thirds and Grealish basically has Rodri's role but further up the pitch.

Wish he was a bit more aggressive sometimes but understand that's not really what Pep demands from him.
Good point and I prefer Grealish wide than Gundogan

I believe he meant he would be pissed off at a Striker who doesn't score goals.
I don’t care what you believe, I’m just going off what the clown, sorry, poster, posted

Are you another one who’s pissed off when we win if the person you think should’ve scored or assisted hasn’t?

Fucking laughable that mate. Can’t get my head around it. We’ve won 100% of the games Grealish has started bar the 10 man game. I’d rather we win every game than Grealish get a single goal or assist

Each to their own, clown or not ;)

It's the same old every week from Jack, his performance level rarely changes. Why doesn't Pep try him through the centre for once instead of trying to force all our attacking players on the wing. We seem to be stacked for wide players but central attacking midfield we're light

The team have won every game this season in which Grealish started, bar the game we had 10 men in.

He‘s still getting slated in here.

He’s closer to winning all games he starts in than Haaland currently is. Hence his analogy.
He said if we won every game without Haaland scoring......fuckin ridiculous argument

Kye1991... tells me everything I need to know. Do you actually know anything about football? Or for that matter anything about a TEAM game?

Have you forgotten how to read? Maybe the big red nose hindered your vision.

You've taken something iv never said and then somehow used it to question me with.

What my username? Lol , crazyadi hahaha what does my username tell you that fills you with so much knowledge. Bearing in mind if my username truly did tell you everything you need to know there would be no need for your two follow up questions.

All I keep hearing is team team team, individual doesn't matter.

Why do we have a player performance section on the forum at all.

This thread is utterly bizarre: top of the league; qualified top of the CL group with a game to spare, yet some are singling out a player for criticism,
What is it about our fan base that some always need a player to be negative about?
I think the problem is some posters have criticised Jack for his lack of goals and assists, fair enough imo. (what is a player thread for if you cant criticise or praise a player).
Jacks fans leapt to his defence and pointed out his ball retention and winning of free kicks. (and some insinuated that Jacks detractors either know nothing about football or are really not good City fans).

This of course led to an escalation of the disagreement.

It's not "utterly bizarre" it's just the same as any other argument that escalates to ridicule and name calling.
