11 | Jeremy Doku - 2024/25

He's frustrating but also the only player that is reliably getting into dangerous positions and creating chances

Getting a bit bored of this over control, slow build up where we stifle our own work

Doku is the only player I see attack the defence... and you know how much harder that is to do against a low block

His final ball needs to improve obviously but it's not gonna happen overnight

If he played for a team that was more direct, I.e. anyone, I think he'd be a player we'd all be saying we wanted to buy

Most wingers have a similar performance, and are unpredictable. Thought he played well and set the tempo early on. Is he the best out there, no, but a good squad player.

Yeah, some of the comments on that performance last night are ludicrous

What's going on with some of these posts here? The kid was great last night, from the posts here you would think he had a bad game
It's pretty clear that he frightens the bejaysus out of full backs. Slovan were the first team not to have doubled up on him and having just seen the highlights it's clear that he had a major contribution last night.

Just reading through the thread and I am starting to question my sanity…

He did get an assist and almost scored a beautiful curler tonight, with a few more chances created, right?

Or is my recollection of the match merely snow in a globe?

Anybody can look through my post history — I invite them to — and they will see that I support the lad, generally. He has an explosive turn of pace, he can go outside or inside the man marking him. That's already valuable.
I think everybody's giving him a lot of credit for the first half. I recognise that. He had a very decent first half, in fact he was one of the better players in the team. But by heavens his second half was dross. I invite everyone to watch that second half back. He kept beating his player, then running down blind alleys, backing himself into corners. At one point he actually beat his player, then took it back over towards the corner flag! Otherwise, time and time again, he sent his crosses into the legs or feet of a man wearing a white shirt.
I'm not crucifying the lad, but if anyone in the team has a poor match (not that he did, he had a poor second half of the match, really poor) I call it as I see it. No-one is exempt. Not Kev, not Erling, not King Rodri himself.
A number of people are calling out Nunes as trash on the post-match thread. He wasn't wonderful, but I think that's too harsh personally. If anyone's getting unfair treatment, it's him. Jérémy's been selected as MOTM on this forum. So be it.
We all have our opinions, and we all have our way of seeing the game. Balance is everything.

Thought he played great last night. For a player who dribbles at such speed and is so dynamic I’d hazard a guess the end product isn’t always going to be positive.

You get Jack on the other side who keeps the ball really well, creates great chances due to his movement but gets slated for not being more dynamic, to counter this poor Doku runs at the defender most times and is electric but gets slated too.

I think the common denominator is every player should be rapid, take on their man and beat them, then be able to score a goal or produce and inch perfect assist.

Sadly these players are exceptionally few and far between…

Was great to see him terrorise them last night, constantly a threat. End product definitely needs work, but an excellent display.
