Gave the SS a nice little wave as he went off today after he got a lot of love today. Fingers crossed for him.

Great performance defensively and we got to see how much faster the build-up play can be with a left footer at the back. Really hope we keep him, if he's happy to stay(looked it today).

Big shout out to all the fans who chanted his name yesterday. It doesn't guarantee Laporte will chang his mind and stay, but it might make him think a bit more a wanting to leave City.

It's not a reaction from his performance, I get City are good with players who want to leave by not making it overly difficult, but bloody hell, how in the world are we so open to selling him for £60m, that's a farce. Player of his reputation and quality won't come cheap, this is the best depth in defence we've had in a while, so I guess we'll cherish it fwiw for another season. Only weak point to our backline is the left back depth, but shows when we start commanding centre halves there instead of Aké (pairing with Mendy) even Cancelo looks great because he has a free license to get forward and be involved in our playmaking. That's a testament to Laporte's quality being able to cover the entire side so well.

Selling Laporte essentially says we are happy with Dias, Stones and Ake as our centre-backs, which we can rotate as necessary... until one of them gets injured, and then we are up Sh*t Creek.

Cannot let this guy go at any cost. He is absolute class. Give him a new and improved contract RIGHT NOW.

Exactly this. Dias, Stones and Laporte are three top drawer centre halves. The drop off to Ake (and I'm not intent on disrespecting the lad) is substantial.

Absolutely. Ake is a level below the other three and definitely has room to improve. Whether or not we'll see him reach that potential at City is another argument altogether. For now he's adequate 'backup'. Laporte has to stay.

I really like Stones and think he had an incredible season last year, but, Laporte for me is a class above.

It’d be him and Dias as first choice for me all season.
I don’t think there’s anything between the three of them really. Stones is the best on the ball, Dias is the best defender, Laporte is the best of a mix of both.

All three are class. Laporte last season was largely passed by even when fit for Stones. This is why he wants to leave.

If we want to keep Laporte, Stones and Dias - management needs to work out some sort of rotation satisfactory to all three. Each of the three would start every important game when fit in most other sides.

As to which is best - easily Dias for me. The best defender of the three - very rarely making a mistake. And extremely good passing from the back. There's a very good reason that Dias is reigning PL player of the season.
